D&D 5E Fire Bolt vs other Wizzard offensive cantrips

That's not actually an attribute of cold damage, though. Right? Chromatic sphere doesn't do that. Cone of cold? And these deal more cold damage than ray of frost, right?
It's an attribute of cold damage, as much as being set on fire is an attribute of fire damage, or reducing your maximum HP is an attribute of necrotic damage. They may be inconsistent in saying when it does or does not apply, but when it does do something, that's what it does. You're not going to get fire damage that reduces your maximum HP, or slows you, because that's not how fire works.

I am not the caster, I am pure support. We have a sorceress with ourself, a Drow which has 3 additional spells :| Damn the unbalance race ! X-(

From Bard Cantrips I got :
Mending
Vicious Mockery
Light
Mage Hand

Are u saying Mage hand is useless, maybe I should drop it then :S

But from Wizzard cantrips I wanna get an offensive spell ....cant choose which one : (

I love the ice/water element but Ray of Frost is kinda lame comparing to Chill Touch or Fire Bolt .... as for Shocking Grasp, its touch spell ... By the time the target reached me I must be probably dead :S
If you are supporting and want to stick with that theme then ray of frost is good...you might think that the -10 ft movement is lame, but it really isn't your impeding enemies moment and slowing their advance.

Though as somebody else said, be mindful of the swap in stat for the wizard cantrips casting. It would come off intelligence rather than your main charisma stat.

It really boils down to how much utility or damage you would like.

Personally I found ray of frost much more fun to use than firebolt.

One could argue that smoke is not only something that you physically interact with, but something whose interaction is very apparent. Anyone whose ever waved a mosquito out of their face near a camp fire would know how smoke looks when someone moves around within it's boundary.
Which raises the question, does illusory smoke displace when you move through it like regular smoke?

Not in a static illusion.

Even Light, if you're the only caster on the team... while Darkvision allows you to 'see' by changing Darkness to Dim Light, you still make attacks at Disadvantage in Dim Light, and Humans and Halflings can't see at all without a light source.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but where did you see that attacking in dim light renders disadvantage? I know that you have disadvantage on perception checks in dim light, but I don't see anything about disadvantage to attacks in dim light.

Pretty much this. Dim light doesn't affect attack rolls, only perception checks relying on sight.

I accept that low damage with a rider is a useful mechanical distinction. I don't specifically object to it being cold. But it's hardly a consistent, objectively determined rule.

In my experience, if you apply enough fire to most monsters, their speed is reduced to zero.
