Firefly (DVD set, spoilers expected)

One of my favorite scenes was the end of the episode right after Jayne betrayed Simon and River... From the point when Mal wacks him on the head with the wrench onward. That and the scene at the end of one of the first episodes, when Mal kicks the guy into the engine intake. Heh.

I LOVED THIS SHOW!!!!

I love the whole thing.

It is tough to declare a favorite because to understand fully "Objects In Space" for example, you really need to see them in order. HOWEVER, I loved this show even when they were shown out of order. I loved that seeing them again, in order, revealed more and it meant more. It proved to me that they were good enough, for me, to stand on their own AND for repeat viewings.

btw, don't miss the extra with Jayne, Adam Baldwin, singing the song! Good stuff!

I can't comment on any of the unaired episodes (yet), because we decided when we got the DVD set for Christmas that we were only going to watch one episode every Friday, to make them last longer. At this rate, we won’t be getting to the new stuff for awhile (this Friday is “Our Mrs. Reynolds”). Still, my favorites thus far are “Out of Gas” and the one where they infiltrate the hospital so Simon can do scans of River’s brain. Oh, and the one where the villain from the Train Robbery catches up with them and captures Mal and Wash -- that was a great one, too.

I got it middle of last week. To prolong it, I'm watching one episode at a time, to properly enjoy it. Given a lack of time, I've only seen the first two shows on the first DVD...

Can't wait to get to the special features on the fourth DVD...

Incredible show, incredible DVD set.

My favorite episode is probably "Out of Gas": I'm a sucker for nonsequential storytelling, and this one was done very well. The horizontal flaming cyclone in it is a work of beauty, too. "War Stories," "Objects in Space," "Our Mrs. Reynolds," and "Ariel" are my next favorites. But really they're almost all great.

And the commentaries are really worth listening to as well, especially "Serenity" and my favorite, "Objects in Space." The latter commentary adds an element to the episode that I hadn't caught at all on the first viewing, and is very intense. Too many show/movie commentaries are just actors giggling and saying, "Ooh, remember that day when Frank couldn't remember his line? hee hee!" which doesn't interest me.

The best of these commentaries tend to be, "This shot here, you'll notice, starts with X character, draws back to reveal two more characters, and over the course of a 45-second unbroken shot shows the entire cast, acting as a coda for the episode in which the cast are broken apart." That sort of insightful stuff.

God, I hope they make the movie.

I have to admit, when I saw the commercials on Fox I didn't like the premise. But some friends of mine kept telling how good it was and that it was a shame it got cancelled. I borrowed a copy of the DVD set from a friend a couple of weeks ago and have watched it. Now I am pissed at myself for not watching it while it was on, and at FOX for showing it out of order and then cancelling it.

I really don't know if I could pick a favorite episode, but if I did, I think it would have to be War Stories. River is just scary good.

Just got the dvd set and only saw one epsiode on tv and thought it was OK, just watched Serenity....holy crap, this show is great I am dying to get through my week (I have Tuesday off) so I can watch more, I will watch 1 or so a night and then a Firefly-a-thon.

Thanks guys, I would not of gotten them if it was not for ENWorld suggesting this dvd set!
