Firefly movie opinion... theme song or no theme song?

listening to the commentary on the episodes, it seems EVERYONE loves to sing along with the theme song, yet movies dont usually have theme songs.
So whats the solution? I say it NEEDS to be there somewhere, even if its before the previews.

Damn skippy it needs to be there, though it wouldn't surprise me if it's only an instrumental version.

Then again, I've heard they're toning down the Western elements--not changing the setting, just visiting worlds where that aspect is less prevelant--to make the movie a bit more appealing to the mainstream. I'd rather they didn't, but I can understand why they might feel the need, and so long as it's not gone completely, I'll put my trust in Joss to get the mix right.

I pop in a DVD just to listen to the theme song sometimes. It needs to be in the movie. Who cares what is not normally done. Aren't we all tired of what is normally done?

It'll be there somewhere- maybe in modified form at the beginning. Love that song. Like others, I pop my dvds in sometimes just to listen to it.

BTW, according to Jewel Staite's blog, it sounds as if the movies been already cut together, and it looks good.

Bleh, I hope it's not anywhere. It was the one blemish on the series, I think. An instrumental version might not be too bad, but with the singing it was terrible... waaaaaaaaay too hokey. I almost always skipped past the credits just because of that, which is a shame, because the montage is pretty nice.

Also, as a random aside, is it any coincidence that Mal and Zoe are in the maroon/brown color, remnicient of the Browncoats? Whereas the Tams (and Book) are in blue, which is primarily what they seem to light the Alliance with? And Kaylee and Jayne are in a green color, not really indicative of a side, or maybe indicative of neutrality?

Well, some movies have theme songs. It is just not as memorable or popular as the one song somewhere in the middle or during the end credit. For example, the Top Gun movie have two good pop songs that climbed the music chart at the time but they never played either one as the first track.

Disney's Aladdin music, "A Whole New World," is played in the middle and a pop R&B version is played during the end credit.

They could go with either an instrumental of the theme song or go with something else entirely and play the familiar song (hopefully a full track) during the end credit. Just don't make it sound too "pop happy" (an example can be found when listening to Enterprise theme song from the first season and the crappy version from the most recent; I hate that campy rhythm beat).
