Oh, I could have cast sacred flame all the time. It's just that I didn't, most of the time, because firing a light crossbow seemed to be the better choice.

Yeah, but like, what I'm saying is, if you want to cast sacred flame all the time, don't have a high Dex and a bow. If you want to shoot stuff with a bow all the time, don't take sacred flame. There's no reason to have both. You could take guidance instead and have more clericy stuff that you do outside of combat.
