Is anyone else as concerned about the newly set dates as I am?
Yes. But we (GenCon lovers everywhere) a're stuck with those dates. It was either move to that weekend, or run the same weekend as Indy's 2nd most famous race (the Brickyard 400). :(

It's a bad weekend for people involved in education--many of them can't take off that late in the summer. However, GenCon really didn't have a choice. GenCon's 30,000 attendees would barely register on the radar if it was held the same weekend as a race that draws 300,000 to Indy.

I personally think they're way too close to the start date of most schools. As many of their audience are students of one form or another, you'd think they would have considered that.

As for GenCon, I don't think I'm going to sign up to run any games, but I might schedule a few. I'm pretty sure I'm going to run one with some of the guys from Monte Cook's board, and I know I'd like to run a game with some of my play-by-post players.

I know a few of us from the PbP forums are going to try and have a sort of game at the con... might not work out, but it's going to be attempted.

They did consider that. There was a poll online, available to anyone, about if they'd want to move the dates of GenCon, or share the weekend with those racing people, whoever they are. Peter did a great job of responding to a bad hand that he was dealt. I know I'll be in attendance, just like in previous years.

Yeah, the great date debate has raged for some time now, but in the end Gencon made the correct decision. The logistics of having the show at the same time as the Brickyard 400 were just too great of an obstacle. Hell, Steak n' Shake ran out of milk when it was just Gencon!

And when they had food in stock, it took forever to get it. The Food Court at the mall never looked so good....
Yeah, the food court was pretty good, but was it just me or did the walk over there seem twice as far as the food court near the MECCA?
