First GenCon thread of 2004

Yeah, the food court was pretty good, but was it just me or did the walk over there seem twice as far as the food court near the MECCA?
That's the new GenCon Health Plan. You burn off twice as many calories going to get your junk food! :p

Hell, Steak n' Shake ran out of milk when it was just Gencon!

I was more concerned when the local ATM machines began running out of money. I ended up walking several blocks at one point to find one that still had some cash left!

The National City building always seemed to have money in their ATMs. It is across the street from the convention center.

Yes. It's a bad weekend for people involved in education--.

Here here, we had to bow out after 4 straight years of GenCon, as that is
move in week at University of Miami, where my wife works. Sooooo, no GCon
for us :(

I'm already and set for registering. I'm taking my kids to their 1st convention and I can't wait!!

Gallo22 :D

I was suprised by the number of kids at Gen Con last year. That was my first time at Gen Con, so I don't know if it was always that way. Origins here in Columbus doesn't seem to have as many children percentage wise as Gen Con did.

I'm running a Texas Holdem poker game where the players put up 50 dice each in stakes. Someone's gonna take home a boatload of dice.

I'm also thinking of running a D&D game but haven't decided what type of adventure to run. If anybody wants to play I'd be willing to take requests ;)

Also thinking of running the Circus Imperium boardgame, though I bet someone else will as well.

I hope to go this year. If I can, I'll pony up the extra money to get a room at one of the nearby hotels, rather than saving money on a hotel a few miles away. Not only will I save $$ from the rental car, but it was *great* to be able to walk from GenCon to a hotel room for gaming.

As for the later date, it should be a one-time-only thing; Peter will have better selections of dates from here forward, since the spaces are booked years in advance.
