Part of the problem is that I'm not sure what you mean by "North West LA" -- Brentwood? Malibu? Chatsworth?
Also, while I know of several decent game stores in greater LA, none of them are in that specific area. Aero Hobbies in Santa Monica is apparently under new management which I can't speak to pro or con. Last Grenadier in Burbank has a decent selection (or did as of a year or two ago when I was last in there) but beware the surly staff. Game Zone in Pasadena is now Game Empire and the new store looks great -- much larger, much cleaner, much better organized, much more professional staff -- but Pasadena's a pretty long trek from anyplace that would be considered North West LA. The same goes for The War House in Long Beach, Third Planet in Torrance (which used to be one of my favorites, but their rpg section gets smaller and smaller every time I go there), Brookhurst Hobbies in Anaheim, and a store in Fullerton the name of which escapes me at the moment.
