Fluid E-Tools Forums Paralysed?

In the meantime, perhaps we could get some productive discussion going on ENworld? Most of what I've seen so far on here has been arguementative, flames, trolling, etc. :).

What do you suggest?

Discussing Bugs? There aren't many major ones, a lot of small ones, but every program has that quirk...

Discussing lack of certain features? I think that this has been discussed in depth to, everyone wants the ability to add (prestige) classes, i think that the folks over at Fluid have gotten the idea and are working on it...

Discussing the lack of splatbook data? Barring the above, that's being covered by fans as we speak. If the Fluid boards where a bit better i think that more people would have been going there to lend a hand with the data entry...

Discussing GUI improvements? That might be a worthy subject, but it's very difficult to say what's a good GUI and what's a better GUI, it's often a matter of taste... But we could discuss that if you want...

I meant in the development area. Many folks, including myself, are working on ET Helper imports of various information. We were discussing those kinds of things on Fluid's boards, but the problems there have brought the discussion to a standstill.

Exactly. So why let the forums stop us? We can discuss some of it here, and when the Fluid's are back up and operational, anything relevant could be cut and pasted. :)

Well, if anyone knows who Bigwave might be is welcome to speak up. I'm having his exact problem on an old Compaq PC I'm trying to install it on. Right down to the driver cited in the GPF error message I got one of the fifteen times it took down the whole OS. (Hey, look, it's not my fault! It's some guy named 'General Protection.')

I haven't found & killed the troublemaker yet, but (a) if he's fixed it, it could save me some time, and (b) if he hasn't, maybe we can save each other some ... Sadly, BigWave is not a registered user there, it was a one-time handle for an anonymous poster.

I would suggest that a page be set up (sourceforge maybe) that could track who's doing what and keep track of version and bug reports, otherwise things are going to be a mess...

Now don't eyeball at me with that "So what's stopping you Mr.C from doing that yourself." look. I've got my hands full with making PcGen campaign files for my D&D group. We heavily use Prestige Classes so E-Tools (currently) isn't for us, but i am interested in it's progress so that when it does support Prcs we might switch over...

Here is a news flash from Fluid

08.13.02 The messages boards are down for posting and replying.

Reading is still available and working as they were before these problems surfaced. Moderator functions are still working as well as private messaging.
Fluid will be moving to a new host with better server support for the things we need to run the message board. You will see any news on this when it becomes available, we hope to be on this upgrade path within a few days.

Blast. I found and replaced the driver-it was a SVGA driver from Silicon Integrated Systems. There was an upgrade on their site, with a note that it would fix a system crash problem. Yay!

So I installed it-and my whole OS still crashes whenever I run eTools. I'm pondering un-installing IE6 and all drivers, re-installing Windows 98, and then re-installing IE6, the drivers, and eTools. Naturally, anything less drastic would be superior, if it worked. Does anyone have any ideas? (I'm still not getting any useful error messages from Win98 before it dies, but I only got the driver GPF after about ten crashes before ...)
