If the Fochlucan lyrist is essentially a melding of the rogue, bard, and druid class...

What would the Fochlucan Sage be? How would you build the class and what would the prereqs be?

The Fochluchan lyrist is actually a recreation of the 1st Edition version of the bard.

I don't know what you mean by "Fochluchan sage"- is this something that exists already in some form, or purely speculative?

I usually start with an idea, rather than a name.

I.e. Jedo Guardian vs. Jedi Counselor.

Rogue/Bard/Specialist Wizard, perhaps? Alter the prerequisites to Knowledge: Arcana (7 ranks) and Specialized Wizard, offer either dual Arcane progression or some form of Loremaster like abilities.

Yet in that they lose a significant amount of their druidic flavor.

It was sort of the intent. When I hear "sage", I immediately think "wizard", as they would have been interchangeable at the time sages were prevalent.
We can't exactly have a Druid/Wizard class that increases casting in both simultaneously. That would be absurd, so I had to drop Druid.

Which is why it would be prudent to make the entry requirements... *difficult*. For example you might require the Fochlucan Sage to be a Diviner Focused Specialist, a "Swift and Deadly Hunter" variant Druid (loses Wildshape).

If you'd really like to have Druid thrown in there, I'd probably Bard/Druid/Wizard, no real change to the requirements (except adding Specialist Wizard), and making it half casting progression in each at alternating levels. All evens add Arcane, all odds add Divine.
Making it harder to get into doesn't really accomplish much.
