For those of you demanding adventures . . .

Do you subscribe to Dungeon?* Each and every time I look into the adventure market I can't see why people are complaining about a lack of adventures. Just subscribe to Dungeon (something like $40/year) and be done with it. If you need more go to Goodman Games and Necromancer Games. If you still need more hit RPGNow.

I can't see how any one DM could ever use even half of the adventures that are available right now.

* If not, why not? I can't see what could be offered beyond Dungeon -- especially with their Adventure Path concept.

Of course, one COULD say the same thing about sourcebooks and supplements... :D

What the "Killer App" for me is really things that are actually 90% of the time devoid of gaming rules. Fantasy Flight's Battle Box, Green Dragon Studio's Dungeon Stamps, Dwarven Forge, Chessex Battlemats, THESE are the kinds of things I "ooo" and "aaah" at nowadays more than anything - something to enrich my actual gaming experience, rather than the game itself.

i have every issue of Dungeon...
not to mention every module, adventure, and web enhancement from T$R and WotC

diaglo "3 issues on time since nov 03" Ooi

No, I do not subscribe to Dungeon. I always found it a little hit and miss. With modules I can pick and chooser the ones I want but with Dungeon I just get the good with the bad. I also found I took too long to find an adventuire in there I needed. With modules, I have an easier time sorting them and finding what I need fast.

I do have some of the DCC and Necromancers modules, they are good and get used. But more often then not I find myself going to my first edition moduels and using them.

I don't remember seeing you screaming for adventures, though. Have you been looking for more adventures?

It's the nature of adventures, for my purposes anyway, that only a small fraction of them fit my tastes. The pool shrinks even more when you look at what is going to fit for a given level/region/party disposition. I subscribe to Dungeon and I'm perfectly willing to pay for the stuff I don't want in order to get the few gems I do. The more adventures that are out there, the more likely it is that I'll find a few that work for a specific theme I'm working on. It's the hit and miss nature of adventures that makes them both attractive(like Crothian says, you can cherrypick) and likely less profitable as well.

I don't want this to sound like an infomercial but with all the money i spend on gaming a year, that 80 bucks for dungeon and dragon is the most useful. I have years worth of campaign with only 10 months of subscription

Yup. The same problem that plagues producers of adventures plagues consumers of adventures; the more detail the less likely a fit. Still, I agree that, at their price and if you regularly use adventures, getting a subscription to Dungeon magazine is the first step. After that, download all of the freebies you can get. Lastly, shop around for specific adventures based on level and tastes. That should give anyone plenty of material. You might have to grab a few elements from some adventures you would never use whole and cobble them onto the skeleton of an adventure that is otherwise 80% on the money for your circumstances, but a few post it notes or a couple of printed pages from PDFs or Doc files ought to handle that well enough.

Well, I'm not one to scream. I'm always looking for adventures. I really like using them and seeing what others are doing with ideas and meldling plot and adversaries together. Or just to check out the latest dungeoncrawl. For me it isn't about getting lots more adventures, but aquiring a few of the ones that really fit with what I'm doing.

And what's people in threads thinking there are lots of PDF adventures? Aside from print ones that get made into PDFs later in their life, I rarely seem to see PDF adventures.

All these threads got me thinking...

For all the talk of how much stuff there is for players, and how little for DMs, from a DM's point of view, between existing conversions here and newer modules from 3rd party producers (including Pazio), I could go for years without worrying if any more adventures were going to come out. I do have more than I know what to do with!

For the charecter I am playing right now on the other hand, I can think of two three books I might want to get, and that is it. From the point of view of a single charecter, there isn't a ton of stuff.

Its weird thinking like this, because it goes againts my intuition. But I can see why adventures might be a hard sale.

Of course, In my case I have enough for my PC just from the core rules and what is in my sig (which admitadely is a lot), and I probably will buy a few adventures over the next year or so, just because I know of some things coming out that I want. But still...
