Forgotten Realms Diety with it all?

I think you should pick a diety based on a character concept and not on which deity "has it all". Tell us a little bit more about the character concept you were think of and maybe we can help you out a bit better.

My vote is for Lathander, with the Renewal and Sun domains. Blasting undead to powder is just too useful, and the ability to return from negative hit points is a perfect safety net.

Doctrinally, he is fairly broad in outlook and not particularly constraining and thus it's easy to find an angle that you can roleplay. I don't agree with the previous comment that his clerics are "perfectionists and pacifists" (that's purely IMO and no offence intended). While perfectionism is something they would strive for, not being a Lawful deity means that the mean streak that makes "perfectionism/t" such a perjorative term is not an issue (again, IMO).

Also, if you're playing in the Silver Marches, there are some nice longer term quest ideas in the SM Web Enhancement. Basically, the head of the church in Lathander is the one who successfully recovers a certain item of which there are at least four. If your goal is to settle into a leadership role at a higher level, there's a perfect hook.

Cheers

The "best" evil Realms deity? That's hard to say. Bane is really cool, if you just want a character who kicks asses and takes names. But a more interesting choice would be Beshaba. Fate and Trickery are good domains for a roleplayer not too concerned with killing everything, and how can you not love a god whose worshiper's most noble passing ritual is floating the corpse of their fallen down a river, then animating it as an undead and teleporting it to a random city?

As for non-evil gods, go with Gond. I can't believe nobody else mentioned him. If you're not limited to the Faerunian pantheon, though, go for Osiris. Retribution + Repose = Fun for the whole family.

Demiurge out.

ahh...beshaba is one to be envious of, but CE diety doesn't appeal to me...

I'm thinking of a Lawful Character (preferable neutral) and to be a good all round character, but be rigid...helps whenever he can, but never enters a situation unprepared. He's Quite useful in combat (Str 14, Power Attack, Cleave = level 1) and well in all the other departments, but interested in destroying large numbers quickly with spells (mainly using buffs and agressive magic) using his healing spells (which he would simply spontaneously cast) only when needed, or life is in danger of dieing.

I would go with Kelemvor and then go for the PrC Doomguide from Faiths and Pantheons. Take the Repose domain (basically the Death Domain, but for non-evil PCs). You have to take Exotic Weapon Proficiency: Bastard Sword to qualify for Doomguide though.

surprised no one mentioned mystra, the teacher's pet of the realms (if you read the novels, with all those chosen walking around)

do you have access to faiths and pantheons? it will give you more info on the respective gods you are thinking about.

*wink*

Look at it this way, according to the novels, every follower of Mystra gets to either meet her, or bed her, so she's a very down to earth goddess!
