Forgotten Realms Druid rule question

theoremtank

First Post
In the Forgotten Realms Campaign setting book it mentions that Druids of Mieliki (SP?) may use all simple and martial weapons (Just like rangers) and may use any light or medium armor. So this is a benefit for having Mieliki as your druid's god. My question is, are there any other benefits or restrictions listed for Druids for having a different god, in the book. I couldn't find any other benefits for druids listed under any of the other nature gods. Is Mieliki the only god that grants any additional benefits to druids?

Yep, she is. BTW, I would consider the Mielikki bonus to only apply to the spiritual oaths thing for the druid. They still only get training in traditional druidic weapons, unless they get the martial weapon proficiency feat or multiclass or something like that.

The Faith's and Pantheon's supplement for FR mentions that any druid worshipping a nature god can use that god's chosen weapon without violating their oaths.

Right. But somewhere in the dogma is written that a druid of Mielikki should fight those who use fire to often. I don't have the books at work, but I'm quite sure about it.
To avoid munchkinism, I wouldn't allow a druid of Mielikki normally the use of spells with the fire-descriptor except Heat Metal. Fire-based spells may be used only when there is no danger of harming animals or natural vegetation with these spells. This house rule works fine, but it is just one opinion.

Wouldn't ANY Druid subscribe to this kind of thinking?

Not necessarily. Some druids simply say: "The end justyfies the means," and have no problem to use their spells first and repair any "colateral" damage later. Others see fire as a part of nature and use fire spells when needed.
A druid of Mielikki has chosen to protect especially the forests and as fire threatens them, he has to fight fire, IMO.

IMO there are too many fire-based druid spells. I'm going to alter most of them IMC, so that they have the same meta-game effect, but different flavor.

I agree, it is not balanced with the other elements (water, air, earth). Hmm, have to think about it.
