it's gameplay was clearly based not on 5e, but on Larians own IP.

There are definitely some pretty big deviations from 5E, but the game is much closer to 5E than DOS2. Something I'm actually sad about, since so many of the really impressive spells and martial effects have been toned down.

They very clearly stood it up on the basis of DOS2 though.

I don't really care to dwell on it, I uninstalled it, and provided them my feedback.

Hopefully some modder cares enough after the fact to address what they can.
