The buying or not-buying part doesn't bother me either way. I'd probably suck it up and play, especailly if it's a difference between playing and not playing, period.

It gets brought up every now and again. And I'm not saying that this is indeed saying what I"m going to ask.

Bad gaming better than no gaming?

For me, no.

I've got minis to paint in preperations of war games, books to read, friends to hang out with, board games to mess with, and dozens of other things to do rather than subject myself to bad gaming.

Others?

For me?

Good gaming is best.

Mediocre gaming is better than no gaming.

No gaming is far better than bad gaming.

I've yet to quit a game group, but I have stepped up to GM when I've found the game that drew me in was bad. IOW, when it was time to put up or shut up, I put up.

Well... It depends I play with my friends and overall friends not just game-friends. As such a "bad game" where it is simply because not my style of game or what not is perfectly fine. Since I am still having fun with my friends, and besides we usually do other stuff as well, like chat, get stuff to eat, do other things before and after, etc.

"Bad game" in that it is completely dysfunctional and causes tension with the group is bad. Since obviously a situation that causes friendship tension isn't a good thing.

Depends on what kind of "bad" it is really. If it's people not knowing how to run a good game, that can be fixed. If it's people not wanting to run a good game (or perhaps having an incompatibly different idea of what a game ought to be) that probably can't be fixed.

I have played in games that had manifest deficiencies (and DMed poorly) but I've always found it worth sticking out through that.

Life's WAY too short to endure bad games.

On the plus side, if you're willing to go the online route, either through Maptools or OpenRPG, there's absolutely no shortage of games on the go. You are pretty much guaranteed to find a group and a game that fits your style if you're willing to look around a bit.

It depends on how bad and the company. If the game is painful, then, yeah, it's probably worse than no gaming. However, if it is just mediocre and I'm with some friends, then that is definitely better than no gaming.

If my choice is between bad game and no game, I'll choose no game.

I can design & tweek PCs for various systems, read books, design jewelry, play guitar or maybe get some exercise running my dogs instead of slogging through a bad game.

Bad gaming better than no gaming?

No idea. The only no-gaming I have ever had was due to my own choice. The rest of the gaming has been great, since I am the DM ;)

But in theory, bad gaming > no gaming, but that's because I play with very good friends, and I might not see them that often, if we didn't have a scheduled game.
