I was recently watching the extended version (oh, so much better than the theatrical release) of FotR and got a huge craving for sausages! Couldn't help myself, and fortunately the local market had a sale going (Eckrich Smoked Sausage 1 lb = $1.99) so I picked some up. I've had them before, mind you, but these are some of the tastiest links I have ever consumed! Do movies do this to other people, or is it just me (again)? :D

Yup, I know just what you're talking about, Mark. You know, it gets even stranger sometimes when I watch anime. Like in Rurouni Kenshin, they're always going over to the Akabeko for beef hot pot. Or in Ranma 1/2, there's this girl, Ukyo, with a giant spatula who's always making okonomiyaki (which is a mixture between pancake and pizza). I've never had either of those (I have had seafood Chinese hot pot, which may or may not be similar), but I really, really want to try them. Never seen them on the menu at any Japanese restaurant, though.

Then there's this show called Cooking Master Boy, which is about a 12-year-old Master Chef (actually, he's a "Super Chef") anda really interesting cartoon. They use cooking the way most shows use action/combat, and you'd be amazed how watchable it is (I don't normally watch cooking shows). But the kid supposedly makes these amazing dishes, and that often gets me hungry.

No.

I like to have munchies around when I'm watching a movie at home, but I don't really care one way or other about eating the things the characters are eating in a movie.

I don't eat anything when I'm out watching a movie in the cinemas (which I don't do often anyway), because the popcorn and candy are too damn expensive, and I'm a cheapass.

I'm a woman, so I always get cravings. ;)

Amen. But I have had weird cravings during movies before too.

1. Anime=Japanese food.(Although I crave that all the time anyway)
2. The Count of Monte Cristo=Seafood
3. The Princess Bride=Burger King
4. LOTR(scenes with Aragorn)=I get cravings. . . but their not for food.

heh I almost never can sit in a movie theatre and not have popcorn. Just one of those things I truly love.

But in this case I was at home watching the DVD and damned if I didn't just get very charged up when I saw those sausages (they'd ben mentioned a number of times, but it was the scene where they had to hide from the birds/eyes of Saruman.)

Now, along the lines of the Entrantress' thoughts, I've long been attracted to Liv Tyler, but I must say that Cate Blanchett tripped my trigger to some degree in this flick...in a very clean and healthy way, mind you. :D

I'm also thinking I need to pick up a nice loaf of fresh bakery bread and a brick of cheese! :p

There's a bulk barn near the theatres where I live, and I go there and fill up my pockets with candy, and sneak it in.

I'll be damned if they take away my Swedish Berries....

Happens a lot to me... And with books, too... If I read about some dish in a book, there is a good chance I'll try to fix it that day or as soon as I can get the ingredients together... Sometimes just to see what it would be like.

The recipie sections in the Leaves of the Inn of Last Home series of books ruled!

I take pocky in... I don't sneak it, though. Manager tried to stop me once, I told her that as soon as I could buy it from them, I'd stop taking it in... She let me keep carrying it. :)

I confess to being fairly susceptible to such urges. To wit:

- I had an overwhelming urge to try a glass of Irish whiskey after watching 'Waking Ned Devine'. Let's just say I'm perfectly happy back with Guinness now.

- I read 'Lonesome Dove' on a three-month field job and absolutely had to have sourdough biscuits (Captain Gus' specialty) when I got back into town. Didn't quite live up to expectations, but they were pretty tasty nonetheless.

- Those were some awfully tasty looking sausages in LOTR. I didn't go out and get any, but the visual did trigger some Pavlovian drooling.

There's undoubtedly more, but I'll leave it at that.
