Fox Nixes John Doe

More genre TV shows hit the dust as the Fox broadcast network officially canceled John Doe after only one season, Variety reported. The network also formally dumped Futurama, though that show's demise has been expected since production ceased before the beginning of last season. Last year, the network burned off the remaining original episodes.

Fox also officially acknowledged the death of Firefly, from Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon. That show went on permanent hiatus in the middle of last season.

My issues with network TV is growing by season! Saw where they are replacing (?) it with a drama/soap on the "behind the camra" porn show (I kid not).

Believe it or not, it doesn't hurt me one bit. I was reviewing the show for scoopme.com, and finding myself in the shoes of my predecesor, I was running swiftly out of good things to say.

At least Angel was renewed, and I will check out both Eliza Dushku's new show (Timeless?) as well as the show that Marti Noxon is now writing for (can't remember the name, it's about the experiences of a dead kid who sees his family carrying on life.)

The only issue I had with the show was that it was becoming a cop show. :)

They also killed Andy Richter Controls the Universe. And yet they're going to make another version of Joe Millionaire.

ARRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! Stupid Fox executives!

Blame the "Millions of Viewers" that watch crap like "Joe Millionaire". Where are they going to get a score of women dumb enough to buy that stupid story again? Are they going to lobotomise them?

edit: oops, I'm not in Nutkinland anymore...

From the preview I saw, it's going to be called "For Love or Money?" and the twist this time is the woman that gets picked by the guy is really competing for a $1 million prize - the guy doesn't know anything about it - he thinks he's there to find a mate. The women are there to lie, cheat, (do X-rated things,) etc. to get him to pick them. Fox is CE. :)

Great another 'reality' show instead........................................

Oh well, guess I'm down to just watching the Simpsons now.

Couldn't they simply cull them from the audience that watches the show? They could even pick the smarter ones and probably get away with it...

I'm sad to see John Doe going, but I'm not nearly as upset as I was about Farscape or Firefly. JD is an interesting show, but... it just didn't grab me the way some shows do. I kind of watched it hoping it would start to really develop, but it never quite seemed to really go anywhere.
