Fox's cunning question (immediate reaction)

Hiya, I'm not quite sure how to interpret the ranger power; Fox's cunning (and therefore other powers).

Fox's cunning is an immediate reaction which triggers by:

  • An enemy makes a melee attack against you.
As a reaction, you can:

  • shift 1 square, then make a basic attack against the enemy.
What does this mean? You trigger it when the enemy declares his attack or after it resolves (e.g. hits or misses)?

Furthermore, if you are allowed to trigger it before the attack resolves, does it mean that the attack misses by default? Irrespective where the ranger ends his shift? (i.e. adjacent to the attacker or not).

Simply said, is this a ranger power allowing him to dodge one attack per encounter?

Since it's an immediate reaction, the attack gets resolved prior to the Ranger's power being activated. If it was an immediate interrupt, then it would allow jim to avoid the attack.

Like Ryujin said the attack will resolve completely and you will be hit if he rolls high enough. Even if the power was an interrupt, the attack would only miss if you moved out of the attackers reach.
