Ah, Fox Trot. Probably one of my favorite comic strips, along with The Far Side. It's like the webcomics we geeks enjoy, but mainstream. But I thought Amend retired from doing the strip?
Retired from doing the daily strip. It still appears on Sundays.
A friend of mine is Bill Amend's cousin and I got to see several pages of the strip that he created before Foxtrot (which was rejected because it was too similar to existing strips, from what I understand). They were quite funny.
A newspaper comic strip was rejected for being too similar to other comic strips? Was it also rejected for actually being funny? Because lack of creativity and lack of humor seem to be a prerequisite for newspaper syndication.
