First Post
Hello,

The timeline i am playing is in the 3.5 edition.
I stared an adventure for an Evil group of a lich wizard level 14 and a vampire Cleric of Bane level 13. the story starts that the Cleric is send in to Undermountain to look for a Phearrim that is traped within, when they get to thier destination after a long journy they find out that there is no Pharrim to retrive and that it was all a test by Hallaster.
Of course Hallaster is not revealing himself, he appears as someone else and teleport them out and tells them that he needs them to something for him.

At this points i am stuck, i have a main big idea i want to do.
He will give them 2 gems that he wants them to place in 2 diffreant points in Waterdeep, a few minutes after they placed it a HUGE distructive explosion will take a third of Waterdeep, the reason Hallaster eant this done is it was ment to destroy a base of operation of the Twisted Rune but this event will have a BIG consenqunse.
After this i am stuck with no idea on what to do, i want the PC to be hunted by a few Organizations that was hurt by the explosion and add a big deep story, maybe even start a BIG war in realms. ideas are welcomed.

Thanks

The Age of Worms

Before throwing in some suggestions can I ask a few things:

1. In your campaign, what are Halaster's motivations for hating the Twisted Rune?
2. Also in your campaign, what are the goals and motivations of the Twisted Rune?
3. Why would the Twisted Rune want a war involving Waterdeep?

Here are my suggested answers:

1. Halaster is still browned off with the 'Rune for his kidnapping and whatnot as depicted in the 2E Stardock adventure. He is also worried about The Age of Worms (see next two points).
2. The leaders of the 'Rune are obsessed with immortality and achieving divine status. Perhaps they are wanting to usher in The Age of Worms as described in the Dungeon adventure path?
3. Assuming the 'Rune is seeking to instigate The Age of Worms, the purpose of the war is simply to cause the death of many to provide souls to fuel a ritual to bring back Kyuss or raise the 'Rune leaders to divine status or possibly both.

If you go this route you can liberally borrow adventure ideas from the Dungeon adventure path which may save you a lot of preparation time.

1. Hallaster hates the Rune becuase they kidnapped him like you mentiond.
2. i dont really have an idea yet for the goals and a motive fot the Rune but i was thinking that they would like to get god hod status.
3. Waterdeep have a base of operation known to Halaster that he feels esential of destroying it in order to weeken them and slow their plans down.

Where i can find information on what you suggested, like who is Kyuss and about the Rune leaders?

(snip) Where i can find information on what you suggested, like who is Kyuss and about the Rune leaders?

  • Kyuss and the Age of Worms are best described in Dungeon, issue numbers 124 to 135. I think you can still buy PDF versions over at www.paizo.com. The other source is Elder Evils, one of the last books published by WotC for 3.5E (and one of my favourites). There are also lots of articles and campaign journals on the 'net that describe the Age of Worms. Google is your friend! :)
  • The leaders of the Twisted Rune are described in Lands of Intrigue which was published by WotC for 2E. You can find it as a free, legal PDF download on the WotC site.

If you have trouble finding any of the above just reply here and I will chase down the links for you.
