Just a heads-up:

Today (well, July 1), I got hit with a fraudulent credit card charge from Netflix- just $7.99- and my CC company told me it was the third complaint they'd gotten today. :)I won't be held accountable, but it means cancelation of that card while waiting for a new one, which IS inconvenient. :)It's a bit of a surprise, considering how little online shopping I do, how many of the restaurants I visit that I actually know the owners, and how few of my receipts go unshredded...and subsequently dispersed over time & space.

Best guess, a glance over my shoulder or an unfamiliar waiter got my numbers stolen.

It's also possible to yoink info off card scanning devices (eg, ATMs, gas pumps, or the like). That's apparently how some crooks got into my bank account via my debit card (!!!!!) last summer.

So yeah, I'll second that: Keep your eyes open!

Were you double billed by Netfilx or did someone use your account information to subscribe to Netflix on the sly?

Just curious because I have recurring billing with Netflix and usually don't worry about it being messed up.

I've never had any involvement with Netflix, which is why this got my attention.

I've dealt with ID fraud before (personally & professionally): this looks more like the thief testing my number to see if I was diligent before trying to sell it. Back in the 1990s, when I got my pocket picked, THAT thief went on a $50 per location shopping spree over the 24 hours it took me to figure out that I had been robbed (as opposed to having misplaced my wallet at one of the locations I had visited the day before).
