Free Feat Question

Serpentes

First Post
Ok now - my DM won't allow in his D&D 3.5/FR setting anything I suggest without some good support from the books (for this he uses 3.5 as long as those are not in opposition to FR).
I've used Forgotten Realms Character Generator
character generator to see if there are no mistakes in my character sheet. According to this generator it seems that my wood elf druid of Rillifane Rallathil gains Point Blank Shot feat as: "free for elf domain".
Could someone tell me where did this feat come from (except for domain druid option I obviously didn't choose) and in which book is it explained?
Making my DM allow this would really help with my character progression.

I currently play 4E and am not in a position to help you with your question, but what may help others to address your question is to post your character here so people can see it.

Explaining what "some good support from the books" means may also help too, as well as explaining what "not in opposition to FR" means might help people too.

As far as I am aware there is very little if anything in the rules that could really "conflict" with FR. FR is a campaign setting and not a rules set per se, albeit there are some sub races and feats etc that are specifically found in FR, that are generally not found else where. As long as you avoid the 3.5 Eberron Books I think you should be golden.

Good luck!

Are you asking where Point Blank Shot came from (Players Handbook in this case) or are you asking about the Elf domain (not sure what book that's from)?

I am asking why do I get it?
My character is not a Cleric to get it from domain and from what I know druid can get a domain only by giving up their wildshape (which I'm not willing to do).
PBS is indeed the Granted Power of Elf Domain but I can't find any justification for a druid to have this granted power.

"some good support from the books" - is it explained in some rulebook so I can justify it to DM this way.

"not in opposition to FR" - for example Core 3.5 states that druids need not have patron deity, FR druids need to have one. Therefore if I overlooked somewhere in FR rulebooks that druid gets granted powers my DM will allow it (PHB states Druids don't get those).

I wouldn't trust in the character generator too much. You are, in fact, not entitled to any domains as a straight Druid, as you have pointed out. So you don't get PBS either. Try building your character not with an online generator (which can be flawed), but using the old pencil-and-paper method.

I personally haven't had reason to trust online character generators either, for the occasional bugs as you've noticed.

I second @Empirate 's comment, the old fashioned way is the most reliable, in my opinion.

I have no idea how you'd get the Elf domain from what you've described.

You have 5 feats listed. Track comes from the Ranger class, leaving 4. Point Blank Shot is mentioned twice, so your only 3 feats are Dodge, Point Blank Shot and Craft Magic Arms and Armor. Ignore the second PBS and it seems you're golden as far as feats go.

I was mostly just checking if I counted everything right - I have everything on paper exactly as you guys say.
Just making sure there is no such thing.
It's kinda required of me to know as much as I can - other players appointed me to question DM with rules and allowed me to play druid to increase my chances to survive.

Surprisingly I've found it myself today.
It's a house rule mentioned in Unearthed Arcana (page 68).

Guess we can close the thread. Thanks for your help everyone.
