Free PDF's for the Gencon Deprived

Clockwork Golem
Are you being left behind while the rest of the board goes to Gencon? Are you tired of hearing folks talk about the great swag they claimed at the dealers hall in the aftermath of the show? Do you have a tiny pang of jealousy every time someone mentions that they're off?

If so, post here and let us know why you're not at Gencon this year and I'll give you a free PDF of your choice from Clockwork Golem's backcatalogue. It may not be the same as bags full of swag, but maybe it can help take the sting out of your Gencon-less weekend :)

Edit: With gencon finished, the free PDF offer is now closed. Thanks to everyone who shared their reasons, especially those who took the opportunity to try a CGW PDF for the first time. I hope everyone had a great weekend, whether they made it to the Con or not :)

Well, lessee, here... No Boots of Teleportation, Murlynd's Spoon, bags of gold (which means no eats or place to stay, assuming I could get m'self there)! I think that about covers it...

:p

Let's start by the fact that I'm in Israel. Yes yes, its that small country in the middle of the middle-east, surrounded by ay-not-so-friendly countries and totally on the wrong side of the ocean than gen-con. As if geography wasn't enough there's the whole political hoo-ha going on here now which you can't avoid and can't concentrate properly on your gaming because of.
And time... oh sweet precious time where art thou? maybe if my professor will stop calling me every 2 hours to nag about deadlines perhaps I could have contemplated going... oh cruel fate.

it is very generous of you :) and I'm not really sad I'm not going to gen-con (although it would have been nice), my gaming group is finally getting into shape which cheers me up

cheers, lior

Thanks for the generous offer!

Until I win the lottery, I will NEVER have the time nor money to cross the ocean to go to GenCon (plus buy tickets, rent hotel room, and what not). :(

Do they take bags o' gold, at GenCon? Pro'ly not... I bet I'd hafta go visit the Money-grubber's... uh, I mean the Money-changer's! (Yeah, that was it!) :p Anyway, as Phil said, thanks for the generosity! May your sales increase!

:D

Well, I live in a small community that makes it's living during the summer; in other words, a tourist community. I work at a grocery store six days a week (since the beginning of June), and GenCon just happens to fall on the same week as our International Kite Festival. There is no way, short of quitting my job (and with full health insurance and profit-sharing, I would have to be insane to do that), that I would be able to get the time off to be able to go to GenCon.

The simple fact is that I can't afford it, and that my kids and wife would not appreciate me going on my own to a convention while leaving them on their own for almost a week. I've never been to a Con before either, and it would be really cool to have gone and met all the ENWorlders! Sadly, I'm remaining at home, anxiously waiting to hear great stories about the Con here on the boards!

Thanks, arwink, this is all really great! Having recently just discovered CGW's pdfs, I'm delighted to get my hands on one more! I'm actually reviewing one of them as I write this.

I'd have to spend more than my entire monthly salary on plane tickets; another monthly salary on room & food; and a third monthly salary on other expenses (U.S. visa, local transportation, registration, events, etc.)

In other words, GenCon wasn't made with a monthly salary of an Eastern European computer programmer in mind. :(
