Free RPG Day is fast approaching, is your FLGS participating?

Well, I had a blast! Got the freebie from Paizo and ran it today! I'll have to get permission to do a full written article on it because it was just so much fun! Thanks, Paizo, Games Plus, and my players for a great Free RPG Day! :)

You got lucky. When I was there they had run out of the Goodman adventure and out of the Paizo one. But that's okay as I got one of the other Goodman adventures and the BI one.

I went to my local game shop (Generation X Comics in Bedford, TX) around 4PM and they had all the free modules on hands. I picked up the DCC 51.5!

I asked at the front desk and they said that gamers for the most part hadn't come to the store to play any RPGs. :(

But they had a copy of our ENWorld Game Day poster in the front window! :)

Took my two oldest sons, got there 15 minutes after the store opened, but there was not big crowd anyway. We were limited to one item each, so we ended up with DCC #51.5, the Paizo module, and Goodman's new Wicked Fantasy Factory line's intro module Temple of Blood.

Ran Temple of Blood for my sons this afternoon. A good time was had by all.

Thanks to all the publishers and FLGS that participated!

I have to say, I was impressed by Goodman's WFF module. I'm definitely going to have to buy the others in the series.

I also really liked how it pushed itself but didn't put down other modules or game systems .

OTOH, unimpressed with the C&C book from Troll Lords. It says "Castle Zagyg Adventure Inside!", but it's really just a 3 page description of a workhouse (prison) and the adventure seems to be "You were in prison, now you're released".

Sigh. :( Manawerx was signed up to participate and did receive the package for it, but there wasn't really anyone around today except for a few folks playing Magic, and then the Wii (they have one hooked up with a small fee per hour of use, so there's usually someone around playing Wii Sports or other stuff).

Didn't get to run or play anything today for lack of anyone showing up. They only had Free RPG Day mentioned on the store's webpage, but nothing in or around the store itself, and I was one of the few people in Manawerx that actually knew of it.

Instead I worked on preparations for a D20 Future: Mecha Crusade campaign. Not exactly how I'd wanted to spend the day, but at least there's prospects for my group starting the campaign next week.

Wowee!

I ran the Paizo GameMastery module for folks at my FLGS, and had to have people jump in with "copies" of the Pre-Gens. THEY LOVED IT - good job Paizo!

Then I ran the WFRP game - which also rocked hard core. I saw the XCrawl and the DCC get played too. It looked like LOTS of fun was had by all.

Good job all the companies that participated!

How about the Runequest entry? Two double sided pieces of paper doesn't really pass the muster, IMO.

That being said, I think the selections were nice. A couple of people said "they still make Tunnels & Trolls?" Paizo's entry got the oohs and aahs for production quality (as did the Warhammer entry).
