Free RPG Day is Saturday!

Here in East Lansing, Michigan, despite a power outage they still had Free RPG Day. I didn't see any of the Paizo Bestiaries, but it's usually available afterwards, so I wasn't too worried, but I picked up the Eberron adventure, and the Goodman double book. They had a 3 item limit, and so of course I had to get a 3rd item, so I grabbed the Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader adventure. Never looked at the RPG before, especially since I've always been an Eldar man in the minis game and wished they expanded the RPG into the rest of the 40K universe, but for free, I'll definitely give it a read.

I haven't read the other 2, but the Eberron adventure is a fun little Khyber dungeon crawl. This isn't "Eberron's Underdark" but definitely some twisted aberration-filled caverns. Skill challenges are interesting and worked in nicely, plus some symbiots the PCs can gain which is cool. Can't wait to run my kids through it!

Also, I was hoping to pick up the Eberron Player's Guide, but they were sold out. They also claimed they got "the last 7 our distributor has in the country", but you gotta take that with a grain of salt (either from the FLGS owner or more likely the distributor). ;) Either way, looks like Eberron's having a good year.

I was disappointed. The store I visited in Pennsylvania allocated what you got to take home via random die roll, so there was only a 2 in 14 chance of me getting the only 2 things I wanted, the Rogue Trader scenario, or the D&D Eberron scenario. I didn’t get either.

Guess I shouldn’t complain when its free, but still.

Let me guess, Compleat Strategist at King of Prussia?

I lucked out... four copies of the Ebberon module (I grabbed them for the dungeon tile), and one each of the Paizo bestiary, Rogue Trader, Geist (which I gave away to a friend), the Goodman Games adventure flipbook, and the always-entertaining Paranoia book.

I was especially pleased with the Paranoia offering, since it includes an adventure. I'd been curious as to what an adventure for that game looked like, and now I know. One of these days, I'll have to run a one-shot for my D&D group.

So Heirodule, I have an Ebberon book you can have, minus the dungeon tile. Send me an e-mail at mightypirate at gmail.com.

Somebody XP this, please, I'm at my quota. :)

I'm in London but have been busy packing all day for my long flight back to Australia on Tuesday, so I couldn't get out :(

I'll be arriving back in Brisbane on Thursday. The free RPG website didn't list any of the Brisbane comic/RPG/hobby shops I know, although I've been living overseas for about a year and a half now, so things might have changed. Does anyone living in Brisbane know if there was any free RPG action?

I would love to have gotten my clammy hands on the Eberron adventure, as I'm going to be running an Eberron campaign once I get back to Australia. Does anyone know how one might go about getting it? I'm hoping WotC will offer it as a PDF download on their site.

There are some already on eBay.

Anybody else grab the Castles & Crusades or Dragon Warriors freebies? I'd seen C&C plenty over the past few years, but it looks like the rehash they're doing this Summer has organized the rules a bit more to my liking. Dragon Warriors seems very early-Runequest/Palladium. Me likey a lot. Anybody played Dragon Warriors yet? Any feedback?

I've got the Dragon Warriors one. It isn't complete enough to run a game, rules you might want to use are only mentioned and not actually in the book.

A friend of mine has started a dragon warriors campaign because of, I think, hearing about it for free rpg day. I'm going to have to try and get in his campaign.

I ran a game of Savage Worlds (using Necropolis 2350) at The Comics Club in Brandon, FL (the only game store in the Tampa area participating in Free RPG Day). We played outside-95+ degrees. I guess I'll do anything to get my gaming fix...

That is strong on all counts: system, setting & environment.
