Frenule's Feiry Fist

Ok I need a bit of help figuring out an appropriate level for this spell. I hope that it falls in around 4th level but I am unsure.

Fenrule's Fiery Fist
Evocation [Fire]
Level: Sor/Wiz 4
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Personal
Area: 10ft reach
Duration: 1 min./level (D)
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: Yes
A fiery projection shoots forth and surrounds your arm. This projection is vaguely arm shaped and seems to move in accordance with your own arm. With this "arm" you can strike any creature within your reach as a touch attack, if you have iterative attacks you may make extra attacks. The arm itself deals 4d6 +1 per caster level (Max. +20), half of the damage is fire damage the other half is force. Also any medium or smaller creature struck by the fist must make a fortitude save or be flung to the outside of your reach, (up to 10 feet) and be knocked prone.

Its a cool spell.

Here are some things that I found that might need to be lowered for it to be a fourth level spell.

4d6 +1 per caster level (Max. +20),

Looking just very briefly at the Spell compendium let me see that the damage is a little too high for a 4th level spell. ( an example of this is blistering radiance, which is a 4th-level evocation spell that deals 2d6 points of damage). Also alternately you could make it as 1d6/ level. As Is I would say the spell is a Sor/Wis 5 or 6 level spell

Thanks for the reply. I think level 5 or 6 is probably far to high a level as the spell is written now. An example is scorching ray which deals 4d6 damage as a ranged touch attack (close range) so by level level 7 thats 60 feet. This spell only can be used like a slam attack almost usually only against a single target each turn when you get it.

Yeah, but this spell deals that damage multiple times- maybe as much as several times per round for a significant duration. That's way better than scorching ray. You're talking about potential damage of 8d6+40 per round for 20 rounds at 20th level- waaay outclassing all other 4th-level spells, imho.
