Was it aliens, or just some sort of Fantastic Four cosmic radiation thing?

i believe they said symbiotic parasite at some point (because I remember thinking of Venom when the word symbiotic (sp?) was used) - of course, they may have later started saying alien, i just don't remember what terminology they stuck with at the end...
but, yes, it definitely had its own sentience.

question though. putting it in spoilers because it talks about one of the last scenes

so the brother tells his comatose-brother that he'll find a way, blah blah blah, and then calls the FBI to see if they really did have an answer -- with the comatose brother still in the room (or at least so i thought). But once the living brother meets his fate and the FBI swarm the place, the comatose brother is already moved to the van.

So, it's not really hard to imagine that the brother moved the comatose-brother prior to the phone call.. but i could have sworn his body was still in the room when the call was placed to the fbi. no?

They never state it's alien in origin or even from outer space. What I took from the episode is that a) the Russians are (not surprisingly) dabbling in fringe science and that b) the CIA have their own fringe division who may butt heads the FBI later on.

It's easy to assume that it's alien, with the guy being a cosmonaut and how the MiB implied they shot the body into space. Alien origins may very well be intended, but JJA has also said that there won't ever be aliens on the show.
