Fun to play Characters

Okay, simple question:

Which character build did you have the most fun playing or saw someone have a great time playing? Maybe for each of the different "food groups" of characters. Level Range 5-15

Here is my list: (I will use the 4th Ed. Terms to sort the characters, alltough it does not really matter. it is just the term in my mind right now)

Defender: Balrog, a Goliath FighterX/Barbarian1 using a build that makes him very versatile. He uses Quick Draw to rapidly switch between Sword&Board and Great Axe (And giving him full attacks with javelins), he can rage for extra damage and he has improved grapple, providing him with yet another extra option. He has Elusive Target as a defensive feat, which gives him further tanking power. In our game, fighters can use their 4th, 8th, 12th... Feat as a wild card feat, essentially allowing them to fill the feat slot as a swift action once per day for the rest of the day. He uses that feat to complete feat tree or react to special situations. (Favorite is Spring Attack, which he would otherwise have learned)

Leader: Amun Amil, a Cleric of Horus-Re in the Forgotten Realms. Played in the beginning days of 3rd Ed. (I think before the Cammpaign Setting was out). He Cleric wearing no armor and gaining no benefits by doing that and using the Sun Domain to great effect. Not a very powerful characters, but I am sure with the options you have know, he could be made powerful.
2nd Place - Caliburn, a redeemed Cleric of Bane, know LN Church Inquisitor of Tyr. Simply build (just become Chuch Inquisitor) but a great fun, non the less.

Controller: Mordred, a wizard who allways behaved like being the most powerful character not only in the group, but in the world. He was actually a conjurer, unable to cast a single evocation or enchantment spell, and rarely used damage spells at all. 2 or 3 well placed crowd controll spells were all he used to win many battles. Widend sculpted grease and web being among his favorites at lower levels.

Striker: Dorok, a Half-Ork Barbarian/Scout build for maximum speed and damage would fill this role. Still, that character did not survive for a long time. Somehow there never really were successful characters of this kind in our group.

Funnest and funniest character ever, Sonovah, my 6th level kobold warmage, very smart, with an egomaniacal personality, and completely foolish.

Most powerful and therefore fun character, Eroim, 12th level half-giant gestalt psychic warrior//scout. A one trick pony for sure, but 50d6 damage on a charge attack is a pretty decent trick.

Shimrod the Clever, Earl of Coalchester, human paragon 3/wizard 5/loremaster 6, my current character in Age of Worms. Pretty much your default generalist wizard, with human paragon thrown in for some skill versatility because I was going for a truly Vancian wizard, who was as arcane and annoying with his tongue as with his spells. I took diplomacy as my always-class skill, got the synergies from bluff, sense motive and nobility & royalty, so I'm the party diplomat, despite Cha 8. Loremaster has perform, so I'm also working on my perform (oratory). Shaping up to be one of my favourite characters of all time.

Gwyn, a paladin 9(?). This was in 2E, so there isn't much to say in terms of "build". He had the poetry nonweapon proficiency, and a nic'Epona mount called Fionna. Nic'Epona are totally badass magical, flying, can-only-be-hit-by-+2-weapons color-changing horses from Planescape. Mine was a toned down version: she could fly and change color. Man, I loved her. :)

Daidoji Renshi, a samurai 2/fighter 4/iaijutsu master 6, with Leadership and his sister Rei, an Asahina-trained shugenja as a cohort. He followed her into exile after it was discovered she was making magic weapons (Asahina shugenja aren't allowed to), and they ended up in FR. I'm not much of one for crossovers, but I really wanted to play an iaijutsu master. He had great initiative and did great damage with iaijutsu focus, but crap damage otherwise. I didn't even have the Str 13 for Power Attack. Ah, the innocence of early characters. :o

A monk 3/fighter 10 with no name, written up for a return to the City of the Spider Queen, after a bitter TPK. He had a guisarme (that's the tripping one), Whirlwind Attack, Improved Trip, Elusive Target, Defensive Throw, Karmic Strike... Approach, get tripped. Attack and hit, get tripped. Attack and miss, get tripped. He moves away, take an AoO, get tripped. Very annoying.

Baeril Underhill, the archetypal 3E gnome! Illusionist/Bard/Paragon, general pain in the neck to everyone around him. Currently working as a consulting detective in Ptolus.

Tayhos-3E wild elf barbarian, my favorite character to play: circumstancial rage, life debts, dying then burying his own corpse...good times.

Urand-Dwarf Undead hating priest with the destroy undead class feature, his biggest asset were his 17 turn attempts per day, greater turning ability and conviction.

Paijin-my most recent character an unbodied telepath who has spent 1000 years+ living on the Elemental Plane of Earth from our plane hopping game. We've spent some time on the Prime, so he's slowly turning into a Sense of Wonder character, my favorite line so far "Where's the ceiling?"

Buttercup, my halfling rogue/shadowdancer. I think she was 12th level when we finally quit. The game was the great thing, though. The whole party just meshed perfectly.

Buttercup was a mafia princess. Utterly spoiled and self-absorbed, but not evil, quite. She sponsored an orphanage with her buddy Archimedes the (nearsighted) paladin. She just taught all the orphans how to pick pockets and open locks (so they could never be held prisoner, you know)...

Loralove Janagu Holly Wandi Aliatra Shortcloak, my Level 5 Gnome Beguiler. She is a travelling inventor/researcher of sorts, killing time with odd jobs while helping search for a lost family artifact (a holy riddle book). Very book smart, but with all the sophistication of a good-natured six-year-old. Naive, innocent, and impulsive, she still has a love for things like bouncing on beds and hugging plushie Paladin dolls.

I can count on one hand the number of times she's cast any *useful* spells... but she's cast a fair number of frivolously fun spells, and she's oddly not half-bad in melee and ranged combat. She spends her time playfully flirting with the pixie wagon driver and looking up to the Pelorian cleric as a big brother. She's a hoot to play, and the other players think she's adorable. :D

Peace & Luv, Liz

Rishandella the Half Gold Dragon half Celestial Paladin/Cleric that was my first 3rd ed character. Built to minmax to try and break the system. With her background, I decided that she had never had a moral quandary in her life - she always knew what she should do and did it. Having her grow to understand that it wasn't like that for everyone else was a blast. Her quests to find both her Mother (the Dragon) and her father (The celestial), were great storylines. And the switch from Paladin to Cleric - she cast her first spell as a paladin, and felt closer to her deity than anything else, so switched (and then moved into an even more closer to deity PrC).

Played from 1st (though with the LA at the time she was effectively higher) until 25. Great character with all sorts of great roleplaying, and decent in fight.

Sellus, my draconic changeling crusader//UA feat rogue/vigilant sentinel. He's all kitted out for defense and social skills. Favourite tricks:
1) Elusive Target with two Dodge buddies flanking him means they both automatically miss their first attacks and smash each other in the face!
2) Skill mastery of Sense Motive + redonculous check + Thought Theft = almost irresistible mind reading. I call it my plotdar (TM).

Most fun character i played with (though not played by me) was a female human paladin with an intelligence of 4 - played as a temperamental blonde teenager with the gods given ability to defeat evil and then go shopping. The AD&D game ran before buffy came out btw....

most fun i'm having at the moment is my Eberron campaign shifter ranger, just 'cos i get to growl at other party members when they do something stupid - which is quite often. I also growl when the ref hands me a note saying i've spotted/heard/smelt something so the rest of the party tend to reach for their weapons until they see in which direction i'm glaring. Amazing what you can convey without words at times....
(Plus i have TWF, normally using two throwing axes as I close and then use Ur / claws as i shred undead or abominations (favoured enemies))
