All I have to say is:
Imagine a monster.

Now describe it to us without referencing any previously existing creature. You are not allowed to use any variation of 'like a...'.

Honestly - how many creatures can you imagine which someone else isn't immediately going to say "hey, that looks a bit like a ...."

What about the hecablahblah or whatever it is, the hundred-armed thingie in the Epic Level book?

Or the Xorn?

Or... umm... the tirapheg? Hey, it does have a use- it's useful as an example of useless monsters that aren't like anything else because they're too frickin' lame!!!

Sorry.... aargh... tirapheg make me rage. What's the plural of tirapheg anyway? Never mind, who cares.

The hecatoncheires, or hundred handed ones, are direct from Greek Mythology. And as we all (should) know, you can't argue with classical mythology.

So you wouldn't be happy to see Mooselings, Shrimpmen, WerePandas, Muskoxeins, Chipmonkians, Koualadons, Planktonia, Giant Guppies, Ethereal Bandicoots or Gargantuan Psionic June Bugs

The yakfolk were also around in Birthright, though they did not keep a very high profile.

And hey, at least we didn't get the storkfolk, although it's probably just a matter of time before those are converted, too.
