That's because they're coming out with English Essentals, so they can use words like "Erewhile" in future Essentials products.

I got the exact same impression from all the previews that Gabe did from the set. I've posted these and been shouted down. I honestly find it stupefying that anyone could have a different opinion on this matter. Not because I feel my opinion is the only opinion to have but rather because of the evidence, I don't see how anyone could come to a different conclusion.

It was interesting reading an opposing opinion on martial attacks. Like him, I've never had a problem with fighters having daily and encounter powers.

But I'm glad there's a build that eliminates them.

You obviously haven't seen the crack team of Ninja's that Mike Mearls and company have carefully trained for essentials release. They will simultaneously (they are fast if you're wondering) break into EVERY players household and burn every pre-essentials 4E book instantly.

This is why I sheathed my collection in Dark Iron Bookjackets. Of course, if they try lightning or acid damage, then I'm screwed.

Yeah, Gabe really has been a fan of 4e, so the fact that he doesn't feel the least bit threatened by Essentials should bode well for the people who are afraid their books are about to burst into flame and have the ashes crumble away so that Wizards can make them buy more product.

I think the fact that Gabe is a fan or 4e is part of why he likes Essentials. In my experience, a very high percentage of the anti-Essentials crowd are the same anti-4e-in-general types who were also up in arms about MM3 fire resistances, scaling skill bonuses, every errata release, katanas not having special rules, minions, and so on and so on.

Basically it's just the latest anti-4e thing, and will be replaced by the next one, IMHO. (My bet for next, or at least coming down the pike, remains complaints about assassin's either being, or NOT being, DDi exclusive after Heroes of Shadow is released).
