Game Calendar. Do you have one?

Stormborn's homebrew world (Leviathan) that I play in has 13 months of 28 days each. The twist is that there are 3 versions of the month names, although often they're the same. One is the Sailors' calendar, one is the calendar of the Church and the third is the common usage calendar. As bard (or obsessive geek, your choice), I'm the archivist of the group. I keep up with events by month using the common usage calendar.

Nearly forgot: the year starts on the first day of spring, in the month of Fairwind.

I use a 12 month 30 day calender based off original egyptian calender. I even have the 5 days of festivals that they would have at the end of their year. I don't have too many holidays and such in my campaign but there are festivals at the beginning of a season.

I keep track of the days as do my players so they can realize the scoope of the game. If months and weeks go by and you can document it it shows the true passage of time and the true epicness of the journey. It also gives reasons for changes that happen around them like birth and death.
 

Any game I run uses stardard methods of timekeeping. Fantasy flavor is one thing but it's wildly inconvenient to change the names and bases of something so ingrained and, ultimately, inconsequential to the actual game.
 

I do keep track of the passing of days. I like to be able to note as the months pass and new years come and go. In my AU campaign, I use the calendar that diamondthrone.com posted early on; I write significant events on it so that later when I write the adventure log i can note how many days passed.
 

Many of us have used the 12 month, 5 week of 6 day (or 6 week of 5 day) calendars. I made the lunar cycle match up exactly with the calendar for simplicity sake.

This is a level of detail that will often escape the PCs. In most campaigns, it is wasted effort by the DM. Before going to such lengths, make sure you need a calendar. If the storylines, adventures or needs of the PCs do not require one, just go without.
 

I've always used one calendar or another. I like to watch the seasons change, and hit my players with the appropriate weather patterns. :lol:
 

It's not a homebrew calendar, but I do keep track of the days, weeks and months with the calendar for my Midnight campaign. I don't remember off-hand how the year is broken down, but months are referred to as 'arcs'.

I like keeping a calendar for the simple fact that it allows you to look back at how the campaign prgressed from week to week.
 

I tried using a different calendar, but even I couldn't remember what months were what, much less my players. Now I use the standard Gregorian calendar, except that December has 30 days and there's no leap year. That way it's the same calendar every year.
 

Yep, in my homebrew I have a calendar and keep accurate records of the passage of time. I took the month names from the French Revolutionary calendar (aka Republican calendar), though the number of days per month and other things are according to my own desires.
 

12 months, 364 days, 7 day week. (364 *is* divisible by 7 :) )

days in each month vary from 28 to 35.

months are named after the different phases of a famous warrior-king's life-long campaign. Days of week are unnamed except in certain religious circles -- days are referred to as 1st day, 2nd day, 3rd day, etc.
