I played three games and I couldn't tell who was using what rules or system unless they called attention to it. And I had a blast!

The only flaw might be meta rules, like Inspiration vs Heroic Inspiration vs Luck.

Were they running them on a single rules chassis or were they allowing each class under its native ruleset?

As near as I can tell, as a player, the rule was you run your character. I think most characters I played with were 2014 or 2024 rules, but the GM was not adjudicating individual rule systems, just running things in a loose 5e framework.

Probably possible to reconcile with specified, upfront and clear table rules to unify those.
