[Gamer's Bag] GenCon Products List Updated

GenCon Update

Hi Darrin,

Since our niche is customization, we are hoping to take many, many custom orders. However, we will have a total of about 2,000 bags in all of our regular sizes: Tiny, Small, Medium, & Royals - in virtually all of our fabric patterns - ready to go home then.

We'll be bringing a book (and a CD ROM for our computer too) that contains over 10,000 monograms that are pre-digitized that you'll be able to pick from. Go to our Embroidery page on our site to pick your choice ahead of time! Of course, custom monograms will still be possible too (if you have something you know you want, bring it on a 3.5"disk and we'll save it on our computer so you can keep your disk, or you can e-mail it to us - heck, e-mail it to us now). We won't know exactly how long custom orders will take as we don't know how many orders we'll receive. Keep in mind that our normal non-con delivery time on custom bags is 2-4 weeks depending on the level of customization.

We'll have our new Signature Bags for getting all of your favorite game designers and EN World buddies to sign. They are all white Royal bags with a Sharpie (R) marker attached via a pencil (er, marker) loop. The marker will be color coordinated with the drawstring color. There will also be an insert to prevent bleed-through and to give a good writing surface.

We will have a limited number of leather bags since 95% of our leather orders are custom monogrammed, we figured that will most likely hold true at GenCon.

We will have some demos of our Bags of (Dice) Holding with 8 small internal pockets (great for minis or to divide your dice up) and one large central area. We didn't want to mass produce the BoDHs because you'll be able to pick an outside and inside fabric, which of course can be two different ones. We weren't about to try to predict fabric choices on hundreds of these! Not to mention they can be monogrammed. :D (If you happen to like the demo models, we will part with them - if you don't mind picking them up at the end on Sunday.)

We did do some pre-monogrammed bags, aimed at kids ala "Baby Gamer" & "Lil' Gamer", divided gender-wise. Lots of fun stuff like Dragon Tales (R), Bob the Builder (R), Spongebob Squarepants (R), Race cars, Tinkerbell (R), Barbie (R), etc. We will also have a few Disney (R) Princess BoDH that are very cool. They come with (washable) markers to let the little gamer color in their own bag! We were going to do some pre-monogrammed "adult" bags, but ultimately we figured that would negate our whole "custom" aspect. Trying to predict what would sell was beyond our diviner's abilities. :D

On a Personal Note
Do to a bunch of unforseen incidents (me being hospitalized with pneumonia, lots of personal problems, several bouts of kids being sick for a week at a time, and a death in the family recently) our time has been greatly reduced to work on our bags. Consequently, our Collectable Card Bags and Collectable Card Bandoleeers will be demos only, but we'll be taking orders for them. We're quite disappointed that we won't have more there, but it might work out better that way since they're going to have the same customization capabilities as our BoDH.

I'd already linked your site to one of my GenCon threads on the wizards boards, stating that you'd be there. I will certainly be coming to your booth to buy some products. :)

Wow, thanks Cog! We appreciate the support and look forward to seeing you there. :D

Not a problem - I'm always keen to tell people about cool gaming products. :)

One question: Would someone be able to place an order with you, and collect at GenCon? Or is that too little time?

That is possible, depending on the level of customization. E-mail us at sales@thegamersbag.com and let us know what you're wanting. I can then give you a yea or nay on if we'd be able to have it for you there. Of course, the sooner you order the better chance you have of being able to pick your order up there. Make sure to put "I'd like to pick my order up at GenCon," in the Comments field on our order form when you order so we don't miss it.
We will try like crazy to get all orders sent in before 7/14, to be deliverable at GenCon (assuming we say we can do it by then).

Thanks for that - I will send an email in the morning (I'm in a darkened room with the g/friend asleep - she's the one who showed me your website!). There are two I'm after, which are not too difficult, I hope - one just a fabric with initials.

A few thoughts: I saw the Indy 2003 comment (putting that on the bags instead of GenCon 2003), which I thought would be a great idea. :) Also, if you want to give a free prize, maybe enter everyone who buys or orders a bag into a prize draw for a free bag?

(Edit: Initial E-mail sent. :) )

That sounds simple enough. :)

We were thinking about doing that actually, but from the GenCon regulations, we got the hint that they didn't want anyone (but sponsors) to in any way, shape or form put anything related to or relating to GenCon on their products. We didn't want to push our luck (and couldn't afford to be a sponsor, even if we sold our vehicle ;) ).

You've got the right idea for a free bag - we will be holding a "guess how many dice?" contest for those who buy bags. We've got little entry forms already made, and a little plexiglass box to house the bag. :) Anyone buying/ordering a bag will be eligible, and closest to the correct number wins (any ties will be decided by a d20 roll - what else?) Instead of just drawing a name out of a bag, we figured we'd make it interesting. :D

Heh. I don't supposed you'd want to part with a demo model at about midday on Sunday? (or you'd be able to make a non-demo one?)

*curses the 8 hour drive back to Des Moines and the fact he will return to England shortly after*

I just got a Green Dragon Scale royal-sized bag and a Chaos Elemental small-sized bag. They both rock! There's only one problem though: I now can't justify the puchase of Crown Royal for anything but the Crown Royal because I will never need another dice bag. :(
