Gamer's nativity

And since all newborns look a bit like aliens anyway, it makes a strange kind of sense.

Now I'm longing to run a holiday one-shot with orcs and trolls invading a cheesy little Thomas Kinkade village. Heh. Maybe I'll dig out savage species and have the PCs be the trolls. :D

I'm an atheist. Christmas is my favorite holiday. Strange, huh?

Anyway, the wife and I have had fun with the nativity set her mother bought for us. Once, as she was unpacking the set she couldn't find the baby Jesus in the packing material. Finally, she finds him and says "I found the Lord! He's at the bottom of the box wrapped in a paper towel!"

Later, I and some friends arranged it so that the wise men were bearing gifts of Smarties candies and Amberbock beer bottle caps.

I'm demented, I know. :)

About Thomas Kinkade-

Every time I look at his art I always think:

"Wow, if he made things just a little less ideal, a little more medieval and could paint dragons, it would make pretty good fantasy art."

I really like the way he does archetectural detail and handles the light. But man, he really needs to cut it with the ideal sort of stuff...

For instance take this image:

Change the mountie to a guy in armor and plop a castle on top of that hill...

viola! fairly cool fantasy art...

Also, I wish Bev Dolittle did fantasy also...

Imagine this being a dragon instead of a bear...

Or this one done with wizards and a knight instead of indians and a cowboy...

What? cant see indians? Its kind of like the sailboat... just relax, you will see them when they are ready!

great art...

I used to live with 3 ferrets.

One of the ferrets, Bandette, used to enjoy stealing the baby Jesus out of my moms nativity scene every Christmas.

At least once a year you'd hear my mom shout " Bandette! Ugh! Where is the lord??"

Usually he was under the couch.

Same here. I just celebrate it as a cultural holiday and enjoy the giving and receiving. Then there's that pagan demigod (no offense pagans, I'm being fecetious) Santa Clause for the kiddies to worship.

Anyway, if you were building a D&D nativity, who would be in it? I'd put a gnome in the manger, Tiamat bearing gifts, and the three wisemen would be Orcus, Grazz't and Asmodeus. Drizzt and Alias would be the beaming parents, and Raistlin would represent the holy spirit.
