Gaming Group Turns 21! (OT)

And I was actually trying to be nice too, refraining from pointing out that I at least don't have to live in Iceland! :D

In answer to the other questions:

1. Yes Piratecat, it has been around 12 years. Although I've always wished it had been about three or four years longer, once I found out that we both attended the same college at the same time. What a great bunch of games that could have been! (although in retrospect, it might have had an impact on our grades).

2. Gordonknox, we play almost every Sunday night from 7 to 10 PM, which usually works out to about three chapters in my Story Hour. I try to get the game started as close to 7 as possible, but it is usally closer to 7:30 by the time we are rolling. We usually end promptly at 10:00, as two of the players have people waiting for them at home that get upset if they are later than usual.

And VikingB, I'm only kidding about Iceland. It's actually a place that my wife would really like for us to visit.

How much personnel turnover has there been? I was just wondering how many of the original players does one have to have for the same "group" to have been in existence?

Anyway, congratulations! That's one hell of an achievement.

One a related note, I had the disturbing experience of talking about the antiquity of one of my dice the other day (it was from the Basic set I bought in June 1981) and one of my players informed me the die was older than he was.

We had a lot of turnover during our second and third years, as people either finished colleged or found new boyfriends and girlfriends. After that it has been fairly steady, with a core group of 7 to 9 players, most of which have 15 or more years.

That's like the only story about the farmer who has had the same axe for 60 years, even though he's changed the handle 5 times and head 3 times. I'd say that if (1) two of more founding players are still with it, or (2) if it is the same campaign, even if none of the original players are there, then it could still count as the same group. Just my opinion.
