Gaming in the Occident

Ok, this is something I'm curious about after it popped into my today. Does Roleplaying exist outside of Asia?

On ENWorld and other gaming forums I've seen posters from the Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, Japan and even India, but I have never (that I remember) seen a post from someone in Uruguay, Ukraine or there abouts. So, I am wondering do RPG's not go down well over that side of the world, am I not looking hard enough, or something else?

Uruguay and the Ukraine are in pretty different parts of the globe. Which parts are you looking for? South America? Western/Eastern Europe?

RPG.net feels pretty international to me. There's a reasonably-sized South American contingent there, and they mostly play the same games we do.

I'm given to understand that there's a fair amount of LARPs played in scandanavia and Russia, and that it doesn't have quite the stigma it has in the US. I don't know what kind of tabletop games they play, though. Presumably about what everybody else plays.

I gamed when I was in the United States (fave gaming memory of those days was running Tomb of Horrors on a Greyhound bus to Albany). There used to be a store that sold gaming supplies on Staten Island and I also recall finding another one just down the road from the Empire State Building in New York, NY.

Dammit!!!

I was going to do a post just like that - except it was going to be the #92 bus from Manchester to Didsbury...

Curse my metal body, I wasn't quick enough...

Land Outcast is in Uruguay actually. I know we have a at least one Chilean, and a Brazilian.

Isn't John Selmak in Moscow? They're around.
