Last night I made Meatloaf "Muffins" with baked pre-cut french fries for my group. That seemed to go over well. If you have time to cook that is. This recipie is pretty fast though. I added half a cup of chopped spinich and left out the icky red pepper.

Yoink! Gonna try this tonight.

... My personal favorite: Smokehouse almonds.

Oooo, those are evil little treats. Yummy.

One thing I've made in the past was what some of the coffee shops around here call the "Nature Bar" In a nutshell, you make it just like rice krispy squares, with the melted marshmallows and some butter or margarine. The difference is that you don't use rice krispies. Instead, mix up a concoction of cornflakes, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds (also billed as Pepitas in some bulk shops). Get some chopped dates or figs, maybe some slivered almonds (even some smokehouse almonds if you want), dried cranberries and/or coconut. Be as creative as you want, but use the unsweetened versions of some of the dried fruits and such, as there's sugar already in the marshmallow that holds it all together.

Whatever you use, make it about a half cornflakes and half everything else. A: it makes them crispy and chewy, and B: to fill them out a little. The trail mix type ingredients can get costly and my gang is not shy about munchies. I'd rather make lots. (cornflakes are pretty reasonable)

Let me know if you use it!

Healthy is always good

I always reach for green tea and some carrot sticks with salsa. Fresh salsa is best (not that stuff from the supermarket). If you're near a Mexican community (a benefit of living in San Diego), there's usually some excellent salsa options. Carrots make healthy and yummy alternatives to chips.

Besides food, another thing that's good for keeping you alert is aromatherapy. There are two routes for this.

The easiest route, that's directed mostly at you, put a drop or two of appropriate oils for alerntess (rosemary, & peppermint are good for alertness) on the back of your hand. Occasionally waft your hand near your nose for a pick me up.

On a slightly more involved level, you can set up a more standard aromatherapy diffusor to release some into the room. You don't want something overpowering. Just enough so that people walking into the room might notice, but then forget about as they get used to the subtle scent. Oil burners are traditional, but you might not want something burning in the room, when you are distracted with the game.

It's pretty amazing how something as minor as that can change the atmosphere of a game. Again, you don't want something that diverts attention. I've played in games where someone's burned incense, and that was too much. You just want some subtle scents that help keep people alert.

If you enjoy this and finds it works well, you could even get more creative. For example, simply using lavendar can have people relax more during the game. During a game that is mostly character interaction, this might be appropriate.

If you have a Trader Joe's near you, they have these peanut-butter filled pretzel nuggets my group likes to call "Tasha's Uncontrollable Hideous Gluttony".

Ah yes! Those little crunchy-creamy temptations!

That, and those Honey-Sesame Cashews. <drool>

dude you got to go with igor bars form dork tower, stuff your sissy boy concerns about sugar and indulge in it.

Layer 1, chocolate chip cookie pan stlye, layer two the glue melted caramel, layer 3 rice crispy treats packed on top, layer 4 melted chocolate with chunks of your favorite candy chopped up and spread on top.

Now that's gamer food.

vegetable platters, what the heck is the gaming world coming to. Eating healthy what a revolting development that is; man live the steortype, don't fight it.
