Gaming W/Jemal: Planar Quest IC (Prologue)

Mei looks back over her shoulder at the others. Her confidence in the answer was high...but it was probably impolitic of her to just speak without consulting them. No, definitely. Inconsiderate. She needed to get used to working in a team again.

"Please accept my apology for answering without your input," she said. "I believe it is the right answer, but I will not put it forward without your approval. Do I have it?"

"Though it seems to me there is a bit of a 'dragon and egg' problem with the first statement, I'm inclined to agree, Mei" Braham says.

"The origins of the gods, titans and dragons aren't discussed," Mei agrees, "But that's not really the point here. The point is that the third statement suffers from overgeneralization. That is, in saying 'all sentient beings on the Prime' were created by gods to serve them, it is false if even one sentient being on the Prime was not. The odds of that are extremely high, in my view. Much more so than the first or the second, the truth of which we have no way to measure."

"Then we are agreed?"

Assuming there is no dissent, Mei-Ying turns back to Wade and nods. "That is our answer."

"The Titans are still alive -- some of them," mentions the dwarf, who has fed on heroic stories from a very early age indeed. "Thor repels them on a regular basis; them and their giant children." He cocks his head to the side, but his straightforward mind doesn't quite manage to figure it out: "What trouble?"

<Response Gerard?>

"I just get the feeling that WE have been called to not just sit around and discuss world politics, but rather that there might be trouble with maybe there is trouble with the balance of The Power and we are needed to fix the balance"

Wade's face shifts to appear as a grin as he regards Mei-Ying "Was that an answer to me or are you talking to them?"

"Oh she was talking amongst us. Now quit being such a nosy body." chides Gerard with a grin.

once she makes her decision, he nods his approval.

OOC: you are too quick! I had other threads up and getting posted!

OOC: the answer wade seeks is which one is true. mentioning one is false is counted as 'discussion amongst ourselves, imho

PS: if my ic comments seem 'distracted' i blame that on the ice cream i am eating.

OOC: I blame the incorrectness of this statement on the ice cream i was eating

"I just get the feeling that WE have been called to not just sit around and discuss world politics, but rather that there might be trouble with maybe there is trouble with the balance of The Power and we are needed to fix the balance"
Ur's bushy eyebrows rise in realization. Things left to themselves do always seem to decay, or fester out of control... Is it the same with universe created by the Power? With the power itself, left so long without a master? "Balance is not the natural state of anything," agrees the bearded stonemason, nodding in deep appreciation of Gerard's wisdom -- always casual, and yet always somehow *there*. Ever since his rescue.

once she makes her decision, he nods his approval.
As does Ur: "Mei Ying speaks for us." The trust in his voice is complete.

Wade regards them, his random craziness disappearing for a moment as he nods. "A well thought answer: in truth none of the statements are ENTIRELY accurate. The game was not about 'guessing' the right answer, it was about your reasoning. You've proven at least that you're capable of reason, more than I would say for most of the young races."
He cocks his head to the side and hrrrm's
"I suppose since I aroused your curiosity now, I should at least tell you what the lies were..
In the first statement, There WERE three races, but dragons were not one of them.
In the second statement, the titans were not the first rulers. They took power only to have it taken from them in turn by the gods.
And in the third statement, There are three well known races on your world not created by the Gods. In fact we have one of those races in this room."

He looks around at the group, a sparkle in his 'eyes' as though he's enjoying himself more than he has in a long time.
"Now, why lie to you at all? Why not just give you the truth and see you reason with that? To prove a couple points. One, That my kind are sentient, I don't follow a Program or set commands, I am capable of being deceitful or honorable just like you. This will be important to remember when you meet my brothers. Second, that information given freely must be taken with a.. what's the term... Gram of salad. And third, because I.. oh damn, what was the third reason again?" He starts pacing back and forth, hand on his chin as though stroking a beard, and muttering to himself in some ancient language.

"Because you wanted to have fun with us?" Mei-Ying hazards with a touch of asperity. It could be frustrating, but the old masters in the temple had been like this too. It seemed that knowledge and wisdom often combined with a touch of perversity. But it taught patience, which had benefits in other situations as well.

"But there is something missing from your account. The titans 'took' power. From who, or what, did they take power?"

Earlier...
Wade said:
"You look like you understand what I mean, eh big guy? Earned yourself some mighty fine power in your day, didn't you? Gave it up, too. Not many do that. I like you. Maybe not the sharpest sword on the wall, but definitely a good one to keep around."
"Your words are too kind, might I inquire, how is that you know so much of Tutek, Forger of the Alliance?" The ogre questions.

Then...

Wade said:
In fact we have one of those races in this room."
"And that would be...?" Tutek asks. "Indeed, if those were the original races, the Titams must have took the power from something, either a conscious entity of greater power or some place which hold it before them." The ogre elaborates, agreeing with Mei Ying.
