Gargoyle and Ettin preview at WotC

Interesting. I like the double initiative concept on the Ettin; I wonder if it will have some sort of 'set em up and knock em down' combo. (i.e, one attack creates a condition; the second attack exploits that condition).

Never understood why gargoyles (in every version of D&D I can recall) were a race and not constructs.

As far as I can tell, it's more that they're creatures who look like and can take on some attributes of statues, as opposed to man-made statues that have come to life (like a golem).

Of course, that's not to stop some enterprising wizard from making constructs that look like gargoyles and messing with the PC's in that way... :)

It's Double-Header and Stone Drone! Look out, He-Man!
You fail at He-Man.

Arrgh! Ya beat me to it, Klaus!

I too, am impressed with the dual-initiative of the Ettin. Should be an interesting creature to use.

The big picture of the minis is also pretty sweet. If you head over to march & beyond, you'll also get some info on the Dr. Doom-bot-forged infiltrator, along with the kobold archer & Oni (see: Ogre Mage). http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/4pr/20080313a

Looks like they took Seigfried and Roy and combined them into one creature, the Ettin. Which, you have to admit, IS pretty darn scary when you think about it...

Does that mean 4E is FATAL influenced?

Now if only Robert Smith was around to save us from that.

I'm afraid to say that some of those minis don't look all that great. Seems like the sculpts and paint jobs took a step backwards.

Some look pretty good, but most of them...blah.
