Gencon Couples, Help me!

Uh yeah...a couple talking to one another through the board about whether or not to attend a gaming convention.

Sounds well-adjusted...

actually most of our talking is done in person between one another.

All I can say is that some people here (NOT Arthur and Rua, I might add) have some mighty idealistic notions about relationships. People in a relationship are allowed to have interests other than each other, and they are allowed to "do stuff" without each other. To claim otherwise is a lot more selfish than attempting to work out a compromise (which is what Arthur did).

I think you may be misunderstanding. I'm going to GenCon without my husband. He's kind of shy and really only games because I like it so much. He'd be bored to death at GenCon. I'm not appalled at Arthur because he's contemplating going without his girlfriend. I'm appalled because he's contemplating it right before she moves away, causing them to be unable to see much of each other for a good long time. I think he's being selfish. I think once she gets to school and around other guys who will probably treat her better, she's going to realize just how selfish, and dump him.

Arthur, you need to decide how much this relationship means to you. She's going away to a place that will give her many, many choices in men other than you. You might consider making yourself charming enough that she actually wants to keep you in the picture.

Of course there is always the "I want you to come with me and share something thats very special to me"

the point of the thread was to find things for us to do so she wouldnt be bored, and thankfully there are more then enough suggestions toward the fact.

Oh, and I'd never hate my girlfriend for asking me to stay with her over going to a con. I love her and I'd never choose gaming over her. Resent is not the same as hate.

Fact of the matter is, she DOES want to go, she always has, she was just worried about having a lack of things to do. Which she now knows she wont face that problem.

Me and Caryn have spent nearly every day of the last 11 months together. Nearly every day. With the Exception of last gencon, winter fantasy (where i spent everyday on the phone with her), and when she went on a cruise with her mother.

So, please, stop trying to manipulate my post or my words into something its not. I'm not trying to be selfish, and we're both trying to find a comprimise that makes us both happy. And no mattter what happens, If i go, or if I stay, we'll both still love eachother, and we wont just break up 2 weeks after she leaves. We're very committed to continuing our relationship.

I have my fair share of guys to choose from now if I wanted to. I don't want to, and that isn't going to change once I leave for school. I am okay if Arthur goes. It would be a different story if I wasn't and he chose to go, but I am okay if he decides to go and I don't.

I want him in the picture now, and in the future. One gaming convention isn't going to make the difference in wanting him in my life.

Me and Caryn both know how much this relationship means to either of us. I'm more then charming enough that she wont leave me. Otherwise she wouldnt have stayed with me for the 11 months we've been together already.

Dont think I'm blind to what you and your nothingland friends are doing. Caryn has been warned about all of you, and your attempts to make me look bad so she breaks up with me wont work.

Me and Caryn have a wonderfull relationship were we communicate everything with one another. We're extremly in tune with one anothers desires and needs. I came on here to ask for advice on things to do at the con as a couple. Not to be bashed for wanting to share something special with my girlfriend. Its unfortunate the way things were scheduled out but that doesnt mean me and her cant work things out so we're both happy. And thats what we're doing.

And for the record, Caryn has read my entire Livejournal.
