Gencon Couples, Help me!

My suggestion is to take a look at what's going on in and around Indy... and to also check the incredibly vast catalog of events for GenCon. Honestly, if you can't find something you both will enjoy... you're just not looking hard enough. ;)

Oh... I'm a big baseball fan too... here is the schedule for the Indy Indians...

Looks like they're having a home stretch that weekend. :)

Now the thread is just getting kind of odd. Is there a reason you guys are talking to each other through the board or is it just some kind of cathartic way of expressing yourselves to get input from people?

All I can say is that some people here (NOT Arthur and Rua, I might add) have some mighty idealistic notions about relationships. People in a relationship are allowed to have interests other than each other, and they are allowed to "do stuff" without each other. To claim otherwise is a lot more selfish than attempting to work out a compromise (which is what Arthur did).

Won't happen. He has already told me that if I told him there was no way he would go, he would still go even if that means giving up some of the last two weeks we have before I leave.

Wow. Just...wow. So basically, he's giving you a choice of A) go with him and maybe enjoy it, maybe not; or B) don't go, and he'll ditch you for a half a week, two weeks before you're leaving for college.

As many other wise posters have said, that's pretty F'ed.

he doesn't understand why I just don't give him the best of both worlds: me at Gen Con.

Do you have a concept of how bad that is? He doesn't understand why you just don't give in and do what he wants to do?

That's exactly what the posters have been pushing for in this thread. And there's something inherently selfish in pushing someone to go to something they aren't really interested in, just to make yourself happy, and then telling them you'd go without them and sacrifice four of the last fourteen days you have together.

He isn't allowed to respond to something that I said defending him?

It's not that I don't want to go, because I want to go to spend the time with Arthur, it's that I am wary of being bored. The whole poitn of this theard was for others to poitn out ways that I won't be bored, so it wasn't only coming from him.

Next on Enworld,

Internet quarrels led to food fight at food at American premiere sci-fi and fantasy convention Gen Con.

;)

Uh yeah...a couple talking to one another through the board about whether or not to attend a gaming convention.

Sounds well-adjusted...

No, he still gives you the choice of Go and Be Bored...

He wanted me to see that I won't be bored and that there were other things to do in Indy if I want a break from Gen Con, which I have seen thanks to some of the other posters on here. While I mgight not enoy spending 4 days gaming, some of that time beingat Gen Con with him, and other times at a minor league baseball game, shopping, etc makes it bearable for me, and I will still have a good time.
