GENCON GAME: Against the Giants (GDQ) Scratch Game!

We couldn't find enough people on Thursday night, so we postponed it till after the Ennies and ENWorld gathering. I've been meaning to post a report it was outrageously fun. Perhaps Leopold will post something, if not I'll try and post something tonight.

the DM hangs his head in shame...the DM got 0wned by 8 13th level PC's. The DM's dice couldn't save for squat. The DM's random emotion dice saved him from blowing a gasket. The DM was happy the players had fun at the DM's expense and all the DM's wonky House Rules. Please let the DM take some time to mourn the loss of the giants...

ps. Anyone who played, please post your PC name so I can start the write up for it. Overall the guys had a blast and whomped on the giants mighty hard, just don't wake up EOL when's asleep or else you will end up getting a rather rude shock!

Next year it's all about G2 baby!! Levels in rogue/monk/blackguard for all the PC's with improved grab and unarmed strike specialized with might monkeygripped great swords!!

I had a blast!!! Leopold had those GREAT house rules (every 1 inch square is 5 feet, you roll initiative only once per encounter, etc).

Other than the GM speaking entirely in the third person (the GM is displeased, the GM is happy).

We totally whomped those giants (even with lamo random characters wielding bizzarre weapons).

I played Ulfgar (the 13th level Dwarven Barbarian with 154 HP, AC 17 wielding a mighty dagger +2) Fear Me!!

*is already lauging at the memory before even typing!*

that game was AWESOME! Leopold was an amazing DM :D he took the whomping like a champ. the emotion die was the star of the show ... next to the funky house rules: roll initiative once per encounter ... here's the kicker ... and KEEP it!!! that Leo, what a revolutionary! :D:p and making each of those lil hexes 5'! such a visionary :p

i don't remember the name of the fighter i played on friday night, i do remember that he had 5 x-class ranks in knowledge nature, and 16 ranks in swim but ZERO ranks in jump! then there was the rogue with 4 ranks in hide LOL and hte cleric with no ranks in concentration but the combat casting feat who made all the fighter types look like little girls with lollipops.

but the dwarven wizard i played on saturday was Tordek (yes, i know! lol) and he had 101 HPs which, IIRC, was 2 less than our ranger :D

again, great game man! i'm looking forward to G2 next year!

Leopold had pregenerated all these characters using Jamis Buck's NPC generator and then entered them into this program called...What was it again? E-tools? no I remember now, PCGen. (j/k) I love Jamis Buck's NPC Generator and probably use it just about every week, but as far as generating playable PC's... There are some issues. One character had combat casting, but no ranks in concentration, another had 13 ranks in profession bookkeeping. The Barbarians were all armed with daggers. As I recall my 13th lvl sorcerer had such giant killing spells as sleep, in addition to 48 hit points and a 15 AC. Nevertheless First Edition Hill Giants are no match for 13th level characters and it was pretty much a massacre. I didn't even get to use Chain Lightning. (Just so the evening wouldn't be a complete waste I used it later on some orcish slaves).

All in all it was tremendously fun Leopold was a great DM and took the massacre we inflicted on his hill giants in good stride, though I think the psychological defense mechanism of refering to himself in third person and the nervous tick he developed may require further counseling.

Man, sorry I missed it.

A couple of friends and I looked around for the game on Thursday night (even going to the internet to view this thread) and realized that nowhere did it say where it was being held.

We had no idea where the "guard statue" was...so we just walked from room to room looking for a guy ina red PC GEN shirt.

What a shame...sounds like you all had a blast.
