GenCon mentioned on NFL Total Access.

Hopefully, sleeping with a supermodel atop a pile of cash salves the pain of a 20 mile commute.

Yay geeks.

*laffs*

That's funny that the NFL couldn't upstage a convention that was held in the same building as one of their football stadiums.....

It'd have been even funnier had they been confronted by lots of stormtroopers from the 501st during a Star Wars Celebration con.....

*laffs some more*

*stumbles off still laughing*

Its our (geeks & nerds) revenge for years of sports programs stealing funding from academic programs

That actually couldn't be farther from the truth. At least at the college level, its those sports programs that allow school to give out more academic scholarships, especially at the big schools like Ohio State, FSU, Miami, UConn, etc. Big sports programs bring in big money for the schools.

High school might be a different matter but many times the sports programs get hit just as hard as the arts do.

I could go on about the negative impact sports has on the American society (shall we talk about vandalism sprees that spring out regularly when major teams lose.) But that's sort of not the point. More than anything, I am irritated at the Trekkie reference. Makes a sad statement about journalism and sort of makes me sad that we had a chance in the spotlight to highlight what we were about and we get labeled "Trekkies."

I got the joy of explaining the whole thing to a guy I sat next to on the flight home.

Funny stuff. I will say that there were thousands of colts fans that looked confused walking through the convnetion center.

we were playing our late evening CoC game during the colts game. :D

I could go on about the negative impact RPGs have on American society (shall we talk about players trying to commit suicide in the steam tunnels under MSU?) But that's sort of not the point.

Or, I could go on about the negative impact video games have on American society (shall we talk about two teenaged screwups shooting up their high school?) But that's sort of not the point...

(/sarcasm)

Using riots thrown by overzealous (and usually drunk) sports fans to say that sports are bad opens up a lot of other interesting possibilites, don't it?

Not all the broadcast journalists got it wrong. On the day Gencon opened it was also mentioned on ESPN's "NFL Live" where host Trey Wingo (really need to remember him for an NPC name) identified Gencon as the world's largest science fiction and fantasy gaming convention.

Go Cowboys!

We get that, no matter the type of convention. That it's automatically a "Trekkie convention"..... and the average journalist doesn't give a crap about our tale, just their interpretation of our tale......

GO PANTHERS!!!

;)
