[GenCon] Roadtripping?

Ashy

First Post
Ok, as some of you know, I'll be heading to my first con ever this year and it just happens to be GenCon (WOO HOO!). Anywho, the point is that I'm looking at an eight hour drive (or so) ahead of me and I want some really cool tunes to roadtrip to. Suggestions? :)

Well, I'm not sure what you like for music in general (well, except for the Cake bit, which I agree with :)), but here're my favorite songs by Cake —

Motorcade of Generosity: Jolene, Ruby Sees All, Is This Love?, Mr. Mastodon Farm
Fashion Nugget: Frank Sinatra, The Distance, Daria, She'll Come Back to Me, Italian Leather Sofa
Prolonging the Magic: Satan is My Motor, Never There, Guitar, You Turn the Screws
Comfort Eagle: Meanwhile Rick James..., Shadow Stabbing, Short Skirt/Long Jacket, Comfort Eagle, Love You Madly

Mind you, I pretty much would listen to any of these albums solid, straight through, but these are my favorite songs off them right now. I'd also suggest maybe some songs by The Strokes off Is This It?: Is This It?, Some Day (that doesn't look right and I can't find the case, so that title is probably wrong...it's track 5), and Last Nite. Tracks 2 and 4 are pretty good, too, IMO. Is this better, Ashy? :)

Best,
tKL

Yea, those all sound groovy. Ok, everyone - this is a bump - I'm looking for some EXCELLENT songs to drive to - anything from the classics to modern stuff - as long as it keeps you in a jammin' mood and keeps the motor hummin', I want it! :D

i have the complete disc set of the Lord of the Rings.

you don't want to ride with me, if you can't handle me bashing Peter Jackson. ;)

This will be my first Gen Con as well, and I am road tripping (about 9-10 hrs from here). Never to early to start burning those "I am going to Gen Con" mix CD's.

My favorite driving album is Allman Brothers: Decade of Hits. Ramblin Man, Melissa, Statesboro Blues -- all are great road songs. I am a big fan of driving to songs that talk about, well, driving, and many of these songs fit the bill.

I also like Tom Petty's Full Moon Fever . "Runnin Down a Dream" is a great driving song.

I think some more and update later.
