As for RA's question RE: Using a PC's background info in a game. Generally, I think PC's backgrounds should be fodder for DMs. Inherently, a player controls one character. The rest is up to the DM. In some cases Players may mark things in their background as private. They should have a good reason for this. Generally, having DMs incorporate PC backgrounds into adventures makes it more fun for everyone, and makes the world more interconnected.

My PC, Percy, does have some private parts to her background. This is for what I would consider a good reason, in that I'm running a series of adventures myself that deal w/some of the NPCs and places in her background. But if other DMs want to use the Public parts, & one already has to some extent, then I'd be thrilled.
But what happens if the private NPC becomes involved in another GM's game like in my example?

I would imagine it depends upon what you plan to do with them... In the above example it wasn't so bad cause the player harmed his own NPC and was also in that game.

If that PC isn't in the game but their NPC is... I would talk to the player in private about it. (If it was me I would tell you how to RP them, and various other things, cannot kill them, cannot harm them. I must approve major things before hand...)

Nah, I don't mean that sort of thing--just if the player involves their own background. Fortunately, my background characters have Immunity to GM-Thwomping (Su) ability by virtue of the backgrounds being in my head and nowhere else :D

I guess I should be proud of myself for NOT realizing I was making fodder for perverted sailors. I have three little kids now, & its really cleaned up my language. (& my drinking!)

Anyway. RA, private parts of a PC's background should not enter into an adventure. Has this actually happened to you in LEW? Perhaps you could send the judges an email about it. Asking the player OOC, also, would be polite. Perhaps you could simply tell him/her that it would be inappropriate to have a private issue in the particular instance.

Information in a characters BACKGROUND is considered PRIVATE unless the player of the character chooses to declare it PUBLIC by stating so.
Therefore just about everything is private. However, if you could answer my specific question about Helena and Demetrius, then you don't need to answer it for me in the general sense you have been trying :)

If I weren’t digging around the Encyclopaedia Altanica I would laugh at that... As is I just want to hurt you. :D

(Oh where you trying to misspell Encyclopedia in the subject line of that thread?)

Your general lack of orginzation right now...

That and right now I'm trying to figure out of the Arcanist gets 10 10th level spells per a day. (It wasn't funny when I was trying to figure out where my chart was wrong.)

That's a typo on the Arcanist ;)

Anyways, Encyclopaedia Britannica spells it that way--go to their website.
