Good timing. I think Crypt just finished, which should see enough 5th levels coming to the Inn to finally get Kostry Kopec started, so Kanli isn't stuck in the corner any longer. :)

Excellent! Kanli's trek across the myriad transdimensional complex of the sacred wall bindings of the Dunn Wright Inn's corner is in its penultimate act! What esoteric secrets will he unleash upon E'n once the contemplation of joined beams comes to a close?

Blargh. And I thought I was doing so well...

I created a page for Kostry Kopec, and copied the source from another active adventure page, but it still isn't showing on the Adventures page, nor does it show as a category when I try to edit those on a characters sheet. What am I doing wrong? :(

Adding a category to a page doesn't actually create a category page. The category page needs to be created (adding any sort of text is enough), then add the category of 'Games' to it. If I'm understanding things correctly that's what pulls the data for the 'Adventures' page. After that is done, then you can add the category, 'Kostry Kopec' in this case, to the character pages and they'll show up. My experience is if you add the category to the character pages before that category page is created it won't work properly.

That explanation is confusing but it's the best I can do. Hope it helps. Since I was there trying to figure it out for myself I already did the above and added the category to Kanli. I'll leave adding the rest of the characters to you.

I thought that's what I did when I created the 00 page, but I guess I missed something. My brain apparently does not like wiki-functionality. :(

Thanks for fixing it for me, though, GE. Will be adding folk as they show up in the game thread, but wanted it ready so it'd be a quick update. :)

Yeah, that pretty much covers it.
a) Create the 00_Game_Name page and add it to Game Name category.
b) Go to the Game Name category page by following the link at the end of the 00_Game_Name page.
c) There, do the create, add some text and then add that page to the Games category.
d) Do that all before adding characters to the Game Name category. If a character gets in first, move him out to the DWI, and then back into the game. Otherwise, the character ends up in a neighboring game.
e) Game names only show in the category drop down after they have been cached, which takes about 4-6 hours I think. So, at first, you have to type out the name each time, but later on, it will be in the drop down list.
f) Retiring a game is as simple as removing the Games category from the Game Name category page.

It is a complicated setup, but wiki programming doesn't allow that much in loop control or actions.

I don't have a clue why it works this way but I can piece out a bit of the how... I think the following is the steps you have to take and the order you have to take them but I'm not sure. The order seems to matter, I got some really weird results when I did all this for Fury and had to re-do bits of it to get it right.

  1. Create a regular wiki page named '00 Game Name'
  2. Add the template to the page '00 Game Name' (easiest to copy from another game page)
  3. Add the category 'Game Name'
  4. Click create on the category page ('Game Name') and add a bit of text (may not be necessary)
  5. Add the category 'Games' to the category page of 'Game Name'
  6. Add the category 'Game Name' to character pages

From what I can tell, you only missed step 4 & 5.

Edit: Ninja'd by the Master! Good to know I figured it out right, though.

Thanks, guys. I think I get it now. I was thinking that the 00 Kostry Kopec page was a category page, when that appears to be something else entirely. Someday I'll get this all down. :)
