General Effects of Bloodied?

Sir Brennen

Legend
We know that being bloodied can trigger the abilities of some classes/creatures, or make them the targets of opponents abilities.

What I haven't seen mentioned yet: is there a standard effect for being bloodied? Penalties to attacks or defenses or the like, similar to the Star Wars Sage Edition condition track?

At this point I'm guessing it hasn't been mentioned because the effect simply isn't there. If not, I can definitely see such a rule being added for those wanting "gritty" games.

From the looks of it, there is no general effect to being bloodied. It's just, like you said, an enabling condition for the creature or the attacker.

Yep! No standard positive or negative effects for being bloodied. Certain creatures have feats and powers that work better (or only work) when directed at bloodied enemies. Other feats and powers can only be used by a creature who is bloodied. I even saw a few powers that were automatically triggered interrupts that happened when a creature became bloodied in combat.

The biggest problem I can see with condition tracks is that they can create a spiral-death situation, where moving down the track imposes penalties that make you noticeably more likely to move down *again*. But, I only have limited experience with actually using such systems, so I don't know how much that hurts in practice.

EDIT: I just watched the SWSE condition rules and sheet and I think I'm going to import this IMC for 4E.
