Gestalt Support

Darn I thought this thread was about material to support gestalts.

Is there any material out there that supports gestalts? As in, specifically dedicated to parties comprised of gestalt members.

What I'm most interested to see are the supposed super duper prestige classes mentioned in UA, where it was mentioned you could make insane prestige classes that counted as taking the standard two classes for a gestalt.

Oh and some gestalt feats would be nice.

Sorry to threadjack.
I made a bunch of new base classes that are retooled gestalts with more flavour. It's here. I suppose you could make them into PrCs by slapping on requirements, but they are meant to be played starting at level 1.

Fighter//Monk isn't a bad Gestalt if the player is looking for a Monk That Does Cool Tricks. Monk//Rogue is teh awesome, imo, or Monk//Psion is teh uber-awesome.

I would strongly wait to see what the second player is bringing to the table. Assuming that you will be running modules, balancing abilities vs. capabilities will be a HUGE issue. If you're running an urban campaign as opposed to a wilderness one, that will be a factor as well.

If you want a headache, run a Ranger//Druid. :)

Generally speaking, though, unless you want teh ultimate spell-thrower (like Favored Soul//Sorcerer, for example), pairing any other class with a warrior-type class will always work.

The fighter/monk player is relatively new to the game and wants to have a monk that does neat tricks (as someone above put it). Were I a player in a gestalt game, monk/psion would be my first choice, but she has no experience with the psionics rules.

In terms of the knight as a support role, I always saw it as a commander type (like the marshal) but instead of getting everyone to do their best, just stands there and forces the enemy to pay attention to him, which takes the pressure off an otherwise undersized party, were I to throw moderately normal-sized encounters at them.

I had been thinking Dragon Shaman, but the urge to use the breath weapon would be too great, and I don't want to have a support character that can do anything to make the PCs wish they had made a different build.

So far I think I like the idea of a Cleric one one side and a Knight/Marshall/knight/knight/marshal, ad infinitum on the other side, the most. Probably a dwarf with some choices out of RoS for armor and feats. The grizzled old commander who has come out of retirement grudgingly one last time.

Isn't there a healer class in the same book as the marshall? That seems more tailored to support than a straight cleric who they will turn to for divinations etc. at higher levels.

Healer sounds familiar, but I can't seem to find a reference to it anywhere.
MiniHB.

Regarding the Knight, I don't think that's a good idea. He's a show-stealer -- that's literally his class ability, "PAY ATTENTION TO MEEEEEE!". The support guy should not be the center of attention.

The knight can certainly be played as a "show stealer" and he's definitely written that way, but it's just as easy to envision him as a big shield for the party. If the players are focusssed on cool attacks without beefing their AC too much, then having a guy who takes all the hits, but doesn't outshine anyone's ability to dispatch enemies, should add a nice compliment to the party without stepping on any toes. In a party with a tank, he'd clearly be a show stealer, as the tank would never really get hit, negating his schtick.

Or do I have this way off?
