Gish with Swash??

Why don't i see very many Gish builds suggestions starting Swash3/Wiz3??

More skills points and better class skills than fighter, free weapon finesse and Int to damage as well.

Are 2 fighter feats that much better??



What about ranger as a full BaB class to start a Gish??

Do you have to be ranger lvl 4 to use wands/scrolls of ranger spells??

A Swashbuckler3/Wizard3 is better off than a Fighter3/Wizard3 since it gets better class features, but worse off than a Fighter1/Wizard4/Spellsword1 (Or Abjurant Champion, or whatever) since it is behind by 2 caster levels.

Basically, it works for someone who's going to be more martially focused than magic focused.

It'd probably be more popular if there were one of those feats that let you add your swashbuckler levels to your arcane casting class. Or a prestige class that did that.

Fighter1/Wizard4 doesn't qualify for Spellsword (prereq +4 Bab) or Abjurant Champion (prereq +5 Bab) Unless there is something i'm missing.

Swashbucklers have to wear very little to no armor to get some of their key class features. This stacks with a wizard being completely unaccustomed to armor, but a fighter/wizard or fighter/sorcerer with Still Spell will be able to cast 8th level spells without any arcane spell failure, have any armor modifications they desire, and have AC 8 or more (plus other bonuses).

I'd say that would be one reason it's more of a focus.

If you are going to be a wizard, and you plan on taking more than two levels of a full BAB, non-caster class, Swash is usually considered a slightly better option than Fighter. I do not recommend Ranger unless you are providing Listen and Spot for the group.
