Githyanki Question

Ok, here's the deal: I'm getting ready to play a Githyanki/Half-Dragon (Red) and according to both the Psionics Handbook and Manual of the Planes, the speed of a gith is 30 ft. In both books, according to the AC, the gith is wearing breastplate, which imposes a penalty to speed. So, is the base speed of a gith 30 ft. or 40 ft.? I appreciate all input.

I'd say that their true base speed would be in line with all other Medium humanoids (40 ft, if I'm not mistaken). Besides, in most cases the stats in the monster block are for the presented creature so the armour mod would probably be there for the Githyanki.

Base speed for medium humanoids is normally 30 ft.
