Round 3, continued

William coughs a little from the blow, and then grasps his longsword in two hands and yells "Well played, but I will not fall to thee!" His powerful cut opens a bleeding wound, though far smaller than William had hoped.

Jinx stays right where he is, perfectly still, and actually closes his eyes for a moment. Bloody-.. need to get focused, Will is getting killed out there.. And just like that, the intruding edge of despair make him fall just short of his goal.

"What manner of demon-spawn are you!" Octavio cries out in suprise, seeing how ineffectual his attack is. He fools the monster again with a showy flourish, but simply misses on his attack.

Tankard gets to his feet and springs to the top of the log, then slides awkwardly down the other side. (ooc: 18 jump, 4 balance)

Thargon takes a swing at the creature which connects, but even his powerful dwarven frame fails to do any lasting damage. (ooc: hits AC 21 for 9 damage, all absorbed by DR)

Phelan lets out a cry of distress at the blood fountaining from William's wound, and moves as quickly as he can to aid the warrior.

Round 4

The northern creature snarls in pain and frustration, and attempts to finish William off with tooth and claw, but is unable to damage him further.

The other attacks Octavio again, this time plunging its rapier deep into the man, but failing to get its teeth anywhere near the wounded man. (ooc: another confirmed crit, for 8 damage. )

Jinx opens his eyes and quickly glances around. Ye gods, he thinks. Some of our best are all stabbed up, these rat-faced guys seem barely scratched, we're split right down the middle, and I just can't focus.

A mental beat.

Time to start actually doing stuff, I figure.

Without really thinking about it, his legs carry him on a course on a slight tangent from the one to where Thargon and Octavio are fighting, giving him a clear shot at it. The moment it comes up, he holds his hand out towards the creature; the air shimmers briefly, and then a jet of fire lances straight towards it, scorching fur and clothes, and hopefully some flesh as well..

(Jinx moves 5 squares S, one square SW, and fires off an Energy Ray (Fire): Touch attack 1d20+2, +1 Bless, +1 PBS=24, Dmg 1d6+1, +1 PBS=6). Critical confirmation fails.)

"Zounds, that one almost hurt," Octavio cries as he puts on a brave face. He droops some, as though he may be out of the fight, but uses the ensuing opening to strike at the creature.

Round 4, continued

"Zounds, that one almost hurt," Octavio cries as he puts on a brave face. He droops some, as though he may be out of the fight, but uses the ensuing opening to strike at the creature. His foe cannot seem to read his attacks, and once again blocks in the wrong place, but the wound Octavio inflicts disappears as soon as his blade withdraws.

Without really thinking about it, his legs carry him on a course on a slight tangent from the one to where Thargon and Octavio are fighting, giving him a clear shot at it. The moment it comes up, he holds his hand out towards the creature; the air shimmers briefly, and then a jet of fire lances straight towards it, scorching fur and clothes and flesh, and causing the creature to loose an inhuman squeal of pain. (ooc: Note the -4 for shooting into melee applies. This still hits, though)

Frustrated by the creatures resiliance, William tried to strike him agian, but though he lands a solid blow, the monster's flesh immediately knits together.

Tank leaps forward to slash deep into the thing, shouting "I will not be ignored!" His powerful blow leaves a serious wound even after the creature's tough skin absorbs what damage it can.

Thargon grunts as he cuts again at Octavio's foe, swinging harder this time, but unable to connect solidly.

Phelan emerges from the trees behind the creature and attempts to distract it for Tankard. His face is contorted in fear and worry and his feeble sickle waving is not enough to distract the creature. (ooc: Tankard and William are both flanking now, though)

Round 5

William's foe snarls with hate and pain, and attacks again, hoping to finish the man off. But between its wounds and the new foes attacking it, it fails to threaten William seriously.

Octavio's foe has only slightly better luck, in that he succeeds in making Octavio duck, but is still unable to draw blood with either tooth or blade.

Octavio...

ooc: Glad to have you back, jaker.

Octavio lets out an, "Oop-a," as he tumbles around the creature, taking up a flanking position with Thargon. His sudden movement grants him a quick shot at the critter's vitals.
